Fault diagnosis and modeling of the liquids packaging process. A research based on Petri Nets
2008
Searching for solutions to manufacture industries, which every day deal with problems of faults in their process, that generate economics and humans main losses, an algorithm to construct a Petri Nets based model and diagnoser to isolate and fault detection of discrete events systems is presented. This algorithm is developed in a real process of liquids packaging, where we can see that its implementation allows detecting individuals, simultaneous and dependents faults. The process to construct the model and diagnoser is systematic and useful, and it reduces the problems of combinational explosion, which is the main problem present in other investigations. This research has an excellent proj…
Corrigendum to “A procedure to calculate the five-parameter model of crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules on the basis of the tabular performance…
2014
Only few manufactures provide the wide set of graphical data that are necessary to use high performance predictive tools for PV systems. On the other hand, reliable graphical data require accurate laboratory measurements that increase manufacturing costs. For this reason PV system designers have to choose between the use of cheap PV modules, lacking in technical data, and the reliable energy predictions that are possible only if the current–voltage characteristics are provided by the PV module manufacturers. This paper describes the procedure to evaluate the parameters of a one-diode equivalent circuit able to accurately epresent the electrical behaviour of a PV panel by means of the minimu…
A procedure to calculate the five-parameter model of crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules on the basis of the tabular performance data

Abstract Only few manufactures provide the wide set of graphical data that are necessary to use high performance predictive tools for PV systems. This paper describes the procedure to evaluate the parameters of a one-diode equivalent circuit able to accurately represent the electrical behaviour of a PV panel by means of …
Generation of a Test Reference Year (TRY): an application to the town of Palermo
2012
The improvement of the energy efficiency of buildings calls for the availability of tools for evaluating and simulating the thermal behaviour of buildings, needing as input climatic databases. These databases contain a very large amount of data, resulting in long computational time analysis. Therefore, simple aggregation methods are used, among which the test reference year (TRY). In this paper, a comparison between two statistical methodologies for compiling a TRY, the Belgian and the Sandia methods, is presented. Then, the two methods have been utilized for compiling the TRY for the town of Palermo, Italy, and compared both statistically and by means of two simple applications, obtaining …
Comparative Study of the Loads Acting on the Operating Cardanic Transmission in the Closed and Open Loop Configurations
2015
On the basis of a comparative study, this paper aims to determine the maximum loads that can occur in operating conditions on the cardanic transmission assembly of motor vehicles in the open or closed loop configurations. The research is conducted under static conditions using finite elements and shows the components with their maximum values obtained in normal operating conditions.
Influence Of Lateral Load Distributions On Pushover Analysis Effectiveness
2008
The effectiveness of two simple load distributions for pushover analysis recently proposed by the authors is investigated through a comparative study, involving static and dynamic analyses of seismic response of eccentrically braced frames. It is shown that in the upper floors only multimodal pushover procedures provide results close to the dynamic profile, while the proposed load patterns are always conservative in the lower floors. They over-estimate the seismic response less than the uniform distribution, representing a reliable alternative to the uniform or more sophisticated adaptive procedures proposed by seismic codes. © 2008 American Institute of Physics.

A Simple Model for the Axial Thrust in V-Belt Drives
1996
Simple formulas can relate axial thrust and torque of rubber V-belt drives, taking into consideration the radial penetration of the belt.
Algorithmic method of design and analysis of fractional-slot windings of AC machines
1998
The paper presents a new algorithmic method of designing fractional-slot windings for AC machines of the double and single layer type. The method allows to design windings with a small number of slots per pole and phase, and then to analyse their MMF harmonic spectra in a simple systematic way and to optimise the construction. The presented method comprises not only 3-phase, but alsom-phase windings, which in the case of compact converter-motor units are quite applicable.
Earthing system’s design in presence of non-uniform soil
2007
The authors propose a practical approach for facing the problem of the design of the earthing systems in two-layer soils. The approach is based on the calculation of an equivalent resistivity of the non-uniform soil through which the designer can treat this one as it was uniform. The purpose of the Authors is to provide an innovative simple method and some easy-to-use graphs for an easy earthing systems' design in two-layer soils.
