Multi-agent control architecture for RFID cyberphysical robotic systems initial validation of tagged objects detection and identification using Playe…

2016

International audience; The objective of this paper is to describe and validate a multi-agent architecture proposed to control RFID Cyber-Physical Robotic Systems. This environment may contain human operators, robots (mobiles, manipulators, mobile manipulators, etc.), places (workrooms, walls, etc.) and other objects (tables, chairs, etc.). The proposed control architecture is composed of two types of agents dispatched on two levels. We find at the Organization level a Supervisory agent to allow operators to configure, manage and interact with the overall control system. At the Control level, we distinguish the Robots agents, to each robot (mobiles, manipulators or mobile manipulators) is a…

A Framework to Support Business-IT Alignment in Enterprise Architecture Decision Making

2008

First published in the proceedings of the EBRF 2007 conference ”Research Forum to Understand Business in Knowledge Society”, September 25-27, Jyväskylä, Finland Business-IT alignment is one of the key concerns of general management and chief information officers. It is commonly recognized as an important instrument for realizing organizational effectiveness. Achieving business-IT alignment requires often change in the way managers regard IT and it demands co-operation between general and IT management. The challenge of aligning business- and IT-related concerns and requirements in architecture decision making situations is the focus of this study. As one possible solution, we present a fram…

Esplorazioni sul futuro prossimo del mondo reale

2020

New visions of the near future capable of questioning the dominant thought and its narration have emerged through different scenarios of utopias and apocalyptic visions that allow us to glimpse the real after the present. In the last decades, in particular, from the imagery of these scenarios emerges the need to address the effects of the impact of anthropic activity on climate change and the growth of the global population for the survival of society, highlighting these issues among the greatest challenges. criticality that humanity is facing. Utopia and dystopia are the main approaches to the material and immaterial narrative of present and future society. If utopia does not maintain link…

Joint Sub-Carrier and Power Allocation for Efficient Communication of Cellular UAVs

2020

| openaire: EC/H2020/857031/EU//5G!Drones Cellular networks are expected to be the main communication infrastructure to support the expanding applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs). As these networks are deployed to serve ground User Equipment (UEs), several issues need to be addressed to enhance cellular UAVs’ services. In this paper, we propose a realistic communication model on the downlink, and we show that the Quality of Service (QoS) for the users is affected by the number of interfering BSs and the impact they cause. The joint problem of sub-carrier and power allocation is therefore addressed. Given its complexity, which is known to be NP-hard, we introduce a solution based …

An architectural generative design process

2011

The paper discusses about architectural and urban design tools, and reports a prototype of parametric application that allows the designer to handle the architectural shape by using urban regulations. It is a Decision Support System (DSS), useful at the early stage of city planning as well as at the early stage of architectural design. The System integrates two different research topics: modelling in geo-referenced environment and modelling through constraints. Compared to the related works (Building Modelling on geo-referenced environment), our application is the first Generative System based on the urban regulation. Three case studies are presented to test the System.

Geometric and morphologic evolution of normal fault planes and traces from 2D to 4D data

2003

Abstract The detailed 3D geometry of normal fault planes is described and analysed using datasets from outcrop studies (2D), seismic surveys (3D) and analogue models (4D). Different geometric configurations of simple isolated normal faults are studied by reference to processes of normal fault propagation. When a normal fault propagates without interacting with other fault zones, the entire border of the principal plane displays characteristic connected secondary structures. These secondary structures cause bifurcations of the principal fault terminations. The along-strike terminations of the principal plane display typical bifurcation configurations (‘ear geometry‘). The orientation of the …

Environment in Megacities: Tehran Waterscapes

2021

Defining contemporary urban paradigms is the challenge of this time, especially when the urban dynamics are so fluid they spread uncontrollably in overextended and overpopulated territories. This is the case for megacities, metropolitan areas with more than 10 million inhabitants, which place the emphasis on how to manage energy consumption in such filled places. In this frame, the city of Tehran, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran, scene of political and cultural disputes, administrative and economic headquarter of the country, with its nearly 15 million residents and a daily traffic of more than 20 million people, is currently one of the most populous cities in the world and repr…

Analysis and reconstruction in stages of the design and construction process of the old and new basilica of S. Peter in Vatican, and its surroundings

2020

CUDA-BLASTP: Accelerating BLASTP on CUDA-enabled graphics hardware

2011

Scanning protein sequence database is an often repeated task in computational biology and bioinformatics. However, scanning large protein databases, such as GenBank, with popular tools such as BLASTP requires long runtimes on sequential architectures. Due to the continuing rapid growth of sequence databases, there is a high demand to accelerate this task. In this paper, we demonstrate how GPUs, powered by the Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA), can be used as an efficient computational platform to accelerate the BLASTP algorithm. In order to exploit the GPU's capabilities for accelerating BLASTP, we have used a compressed deterministic finite state automaton for hit detection as wel…

The long and winding road of enterprise architecture implementation in the Finnish public sector

2018

This thesis examines the implementation of enterprise architecture (EA) in the Finnish public sector. EA is a systematic approach for analysing, visualising, developing and governing the functions and structures of organisations. It describes how organisations businesses, information and systems function as a whole. Research and practice have shown the implementation of EA is challenging and slow to advance. Finland provides a prolific area for research since the use of EA is mandatory in public sector, which is rare amongst countries taking a whole-of-government EA approach. In order to research EA as a method for systemic change, a suitable theoretical framing was necessary. The context, …
