Biochemical taxonomic differentiation between Mullus barbatus and mullus surmuletus (Pisces, mullidae)

1991

Abstract 1. 1. The electrophoretic data from seven enzymatic systems, codifying for 20 loci, and the patterns of general proteins from some tissues of Mullus barbatus and Mullus surmuletus were examined. 2. 2. The value of the genetic distance index as per Nei is 0.068, this criterium showing a high similarity between the two species. 3. 3. Species-specific patterns were found for the SOD enzyme and general proteins of the muscle.

Znaczenie środowiska proksemicznego w psychoterapii : przesłanki neurobiologiczne

2018

Autor podaje sposoby tworzenia i monitorowania („mapowania”) środowis…

Performing arts and mediation technology in the period of lockdown

2021

Advancements in digital technologies have become novel ways to enrich communication, expression, and transmission of arts knowledge. Technology is increasingly implemented in the performance space, as a source of inspiration for artists. Especially in this period of lockdown, mediation technology has turned out to be an essential tool for different aspects of social life, as in performing arts. With venues, schools and artistic activities closed, performers, students and spectators have been obliged to keep connecting in remote conditions. This article wants to retrace the aesthetic impact of mediation technology in performing arts during this period of lockdown by focusing on the aspects t…

This article wants to retrace the aesthetic impact of mediation technology in performing arts during this period of lockdown by focusing on the aspects that induced advancements of strategies for the transmission of performing arts. The goal is to illustrate the potentialities as well as the challenges of the arttechnology encounter by underlining the transformation of the interaction with and perception of the performance space in remote conditions and in distance learning. The implementation of digital technologies is contributing to the evolution of the performing arts sector by facilitating futuristic approaches. 402 412mediation technology has turned out to be an essential tool for different aspects of social lifeas in performing arts.

Homo- and heterometallic metal atomic strings

2016

Metallofiilinen vuorovaikutus koostuu p…

A global experiment on motivating social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic

2022

Significance\ud \ud Communicating in ways that motivate engagement in social distancing remains a critical global public health priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study tested motivational qualities of messages about social distancing (those that promoted choice and agency vs. those that were forceful and shaming) in 25,718 people in 89 countries. The autonomy-supportive message decreased feelings of defying social distancing recommendations relative to the controlling message, and the controlling message increased controlled motivation, a less effective form of motivation, relative to no message. Message type did not impact intentions to socially distance, but people’s existing mo…

Certhia tianquanensis Li, a treecreeper with relict distribution in Sichuan, China

2002

Certhia tianquanensis Li, 1995, is characterised as a distinct species and is combined withC. discolor in the superspeciesC. [discolor]. This probably relict species occupies an extremely small range, and has so far been found at only four sites in western Sichuan, China. It is characterised by a long tail (likeC. discolor), an extremely short bill (similar toC. nipalensis), the patterning on the underside, with white chin and throat and beige chest and abdomen (likeC. himalayana), a striking voice (clearly different fromC. discolor and all otherCerthia species), and a large genetic distance fromC. d. discolor in the cytochrome-b gene. Unlike its closest relativeC. discolor, C. tianquanensi…

DNA barcoding for Arecaceae and Fabaceae species identification of two plant collections

2021

DNA barcoding is a well-known technique that enable species identification by using universal DNA sequences from a small fragment of the genome. In this work, the effectiveness of DNA barcoding approach was evaluated in order to identify different taxonomic groups among two families (Arecaceae and Fabaceae) from two flowering plant collections: some were economically important taxa from nursery production and Mediterranean plants with ornamental attitude for possible new introduction. Three chloroplast DNA barcode regions (matK, rbcL and trnH-psbA) proposed by the Consortium for the Barcode of Life (CBOL) were tested in 22 Arecaceae species and in eight Fabaceae species, including Ceratonia…

Parallel distance transforms on pyramid machines: Theory and implementation

1990

Abstract A distance transform of a binary image is an array each of whose elements gives the distance from the corresponding pixel to the closest ‘1’ in the binary image. Distance transforms have uses in image matching and shape analysis, among other applications. We present a parallel algorithm for weighted distance transforms that runs particularly efficiently on hierarchical cellular-logic machines, a subclass of the architectures known as pyramid machines. The algorithm computes the 3–4 distance transform; however it can be readily adapted to the city-block (‘Manhattan’) and chessboard distance measures. The algorithm runs in O(M) time, for an M × M image. Since it avoids using arithmet…
