Digital innovation & enterprise in the sharing economy: An action research agenda

2020

Abstract In this digital era, Digital Innovation & Enterprise have emerged as a possible prescription in the sharing economy. Scholars have noted that digital innovation is transforming the technological landscape, entrepreneurial practices, and the behaviours, attitudes, and beliefs of consumers across the globe. This research note serves three purposes. First, it introduces digital innovation and enterprise as a fruitful area of research in the sharing economy. Second, it extends the agenda set by Yoo, Henfridsson, and Lyytinen (2010) on “new organising logics of Digital Innovation” to propose contemporary research questions for scholarly collaboration. Third, it attempts to move forward …

Hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence in patients with curative resection or ablation: impact of HCV eradication does not depend on the use of interfer…

2016

none 48 no Background: In HCV-infected cirrhotic patients with successfully treated early hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the time to HCC recurrence and the effects of sustained viral eradication (SVR) by interferon (IFN)-based or IFN-free regimens on HCC recurrence remain unclear. Aim: To perform an indirect comparison of time to recurrence (TTR) in patients with successfully treated early HCC and active HCV infection with those of patients with SVR by IFN-based and by IFN-free regimens. Methods: We evaluated 443 patients with HCV-related cirrhosis and Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer Stage A/0 HCC who had a complete radiological response after curative resection or ablation. Active HCV infec…

[Vaccination against papillomavirus : arguments and evidence of effectiveness].

2020

Vaccination against papillomavirus: arguments and evidence of effectiveness. Vaccination against human papillomavirus is a major advance in the prevention of cervical cancer. Evidence of its effectiveness has accumulated over the past thirty years since basic research has demonstrated the ability of viral pseudoparticles to induce immune responses in animals. Large human clinical trials followed to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of vaccination against targeted HPV infections and their associated lesions. After its approval and marketing the vaccine efficacy was measured at the level of entire populations, confirming its effectiveness and medical interest. Today, models predict a possib…

Lipidomic profiling identifies signatures of metabolic risk

2020

Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS), the clustering of metabolic risk factors, is associated with cardiovascular disease risk. We sought to determine if dysregulation of the lipidome may contribute to metabolic risk factors. Methods: We measured 154 circulating lipid species in 658 participants from the Framingham Heart Study (FHS) using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and tested for associations with obesity, dysglycemia, and dyslipidemia. Independent external validation was sought in three independent cohorts. Follow-up data from the FHS were used to test for lipid metabolites associated with longitudinal changes in metabolic risk factors. Results: Thirty-nine lipids were…

Hospital discharges-based search of acute flaccid paralysis cases 2007-2016 in Italy and comparison with the National Surveillance System for monitor…

2019

Abstract Background Acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) surveillance has been adopted globally as a key strategy for monitoring the progress of the polio eradication initiative. Hereby, to evaluate the completeness of the ascertainment of AFP cases in Italy, a hospital-discharges based search was carried out. Methods AFP cases occurring between 2007 and 2016 among children under 15 years of age were searched in the Italian Hospital Discharge Records (HDR) database using specific ICD-9-CM diagnostic codes. AFP cases identified between 2015 and 2016 were then compared with those notified to the National Surveillance System (NSS). Results Over a 10-year period, 4163 hospital discharges with diagnosi…

Surveillance and control of African Swine Fever in free‐ranging pigs in Sardinia

2019

SUMMARY African swine fever (ASF) is a notifiable infectious disease, caused by the ASF virus (ASFV), which is a DNA virus belonging to the family Asfarviridae, genus Asfivirus. This disease has gained importance in the last decade after its spread in several countries in Eastern and Central Europe, and more recently, in China. Despite the efforts made to eradicate it, ASF is still present on the Mediterranean island of Sardinia (Italy) and has been since 1978. ASF risk factors on the island have been analysed in previous studies; the role of free‐ranging pigs in virus persistence has been suggested, but has not been fully elucidated. The most recent eradication plan provides more stringent…

No deterioration in health-related quality of life in patients with axial spondyloarthritis followed for 5 years in ordinary outpatient clinics in th…

2019

Abstract Background Axial spondyloarthritis (ax-SpA) causes pain, fatigue, stiffness, loss of physical function and impaired health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Aims The study aimed to explore the changes in HRQOL over 5 years in patients with ax-SpA and to identify baseline predictors associated with changes in HRQOL assessed using three HRQOL measures. Methods Demographic, disease, medication and HRQOL data were collected at baseline and at 5-year follow-up. HRQOL was assessed using SF-6D, 15D and SF-36. Analyses involved McNemar, independent paired t tests and multiple regression. Results In the 240 (women 31%, men 69%) ax-SpA patients assessed (mean age 46 years), measures reflectin…

Comorbidities impact and de-prescribing in elderly with HCV-related liver disease: analysis of a prospective cohort.

2021

AbstractManagement for HCV has undergone a notable change using direct-acting antiviral drugs (DAAs), which are safe and effective even in elderly. Here, we define impact of comorbidities, concomitant medication and drug–drug interactions in elder patients with HCV related disease before starting DAAs regimen. We analyzed data of 814 patients prospectively enrolled at our Unit within the web based model HCV Sicily Network. Out of 814, 590 were treated with DAAs and 414 of them were older than 65 years. We divided those 414 in two groups, one including 215 patients, aged between 65 and 74 years, and another with 199 patients, aged of 75 years and over. Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) was as…
