Methods In a prospective randomized study, 100 perimenopausal patients, without desire of pregnancy and with no response to pharmacological treatment, underwent endometrial ablation from 2012 to 2014. Setting Information regarding the association between age, body mass index (BMI), endometrial priming, tobacco consumption, hydrosalpinx, and endometriosis/adenomyosis in oocyte recipients and the results of oocyte donation cycles. It is not unusual that, after an apparently uneventful pregnancy and birth, postpartal analysis of fetal blood unexpectedly reveals the presence of peripartal acidosis, a finding that is inexplicable on the basis of routine observation of the placenta.
