In the wake of unsettling conflicts and democratic backsliding, states and organisations increasingly respond with sanctions. The European Union (EU) is one of them: Brussels makes use of the entire toolbox in its foreign policy, and its sanctions appear in different forms—diplomatic measures, travel bans, financial bans, or various forms of economic restrictions. Yet, there is little debate between different strands in the literature on EU sanctions, in particular concerning measures under the Common Foreign and Security Policy and those pertaining to the development and trade policy fields. Participatory budgeting for young people as democratic socialisation : An approach to the case of Spain

This article analyses participatory budgets for young people (children and adolescents) held in Spanish municipalities during the period 2015-2021. A questionnaire was made and 35 valid responses were obtained after it was distributed by UNICEF Spain during July-September 2021. The data were processed using MAXQDA 2022 software, and the study characterised the language, strategy, objectives, phases and participants. From these last three variables, a document map was made to generate clusters and find affinities between cases. The main findings reveal the importance of the role of municipal officials and politicians, as well as the existence of three participatory budget models.

This essay aims to contribute to the process of rethinking thirty years of Italian history. These long thirty years began with the 1968 student movement and the workers’ movement in the factories of Northern Italy in the “hot autumn” of 1969, then saw the cross-fertilization of the feminist movement and the battles for civil rights (divorce and abortion), and ended with terrorism and its repression, leading to an estrangement between politics and civil society and, in particular, to women’s drastic disaffection from politics. Se expone cómo, a través de sutiles operaciones discursivas, el documental trata de traer al presente una experiencia de la represión que buena parte de la sociedad trataba de situar en el pasado.
