In the South of Italy and the big islands, in counter-trend with respect to the rest of the peninsula, construction guilds know a renewed vitality between the last decades of 15th and the beginning of 16th centuries. Rules, prerogatives and operative modes are regulated by statutes, often undersigned by the masters included in the trade organization, mentioning also the other actors involved in the approval processes. The organized crime is a relevant ethical, cultural, legal, sociologic and economic issue in many countries. In the last years there have been some positive signs of a reaction against the mafia like the successful experience of Addiopizzo, an anti-bribery association founded in Palermo in 2004 that today counts over 500 affiliated firms. Gambetta (1993) suggests the mafia could better be understood as a profit maximizing corporation in the marketplace for private protection. In Italy, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) foresees the planting of ca. 6.6 million trees to establish urban and peri-urban forests in 14 metropolitan cities. This ambitious project requires a significant number of native trees and shrubs, currently unavailable in Italian public and private nurseries. Il saggio prende le mosse dal rifiuto di Franca Viola di sottostare al matrimonio come atto “riparatorio" alla violenza subita, che aveva il potere di derubricare giuridicamente lo stupro perpetrato dal carnefice ma, soprattutto, di riammettere la vittima, in un contesto sociale, pronto, in caso contrario, ad escluderla e stigmatizzarla.
