Δ(1232)resonance in theγ→p→pπ0reaction at threshold

2016

We calculate the neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold in covariant baryon chiral perturbation theory, including the $\Delta(1232)$ resonance as an explicit degree of freedom, up to chiral order $p^{7/2}$ in the $\delta$ counting. We compare our results with recent low-energy data from the Mainz Microtron for angular distributions and photon asymmetries. The convergence of the chiral series of the covariant approach is found to improve substantially with the inclusion of the $\Delta(1232)$ resonance.

Semileptonic decaysΛc+→Λℓ+νℓ(ℓ=e,μ)in the covariant quark model and comparison with the new absolute branching fraction measurements of Belle and BES…

2016

We present precise theoretical predictions for the absolute branching fractions of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}{\ensuremath{\ell}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{\ensuremath{\ell}}(\ensuremath{\ell}=e,\ensuremath{\mu})$ decays in the covariant confined quark model. This study is motivated by two recent and accurate measurements of the absolute branching fractions of ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}p{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}$ and ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}{e}^{+}{\ensuremath{\nu}}_{e}$ by the Belle Collaboration at the KE…

The leading hadronic contribution to the running of the Weinberg angle using covariant coordinate-space methods

2018

We present a preliminary study of the leading hadronic contribution to the running of the Weinberg angle $\theta_{\mathrm{W}}$. The running is extracted from the correlation function of the electromagnetic current with the vector part of the weak neutral current using both the standard time-momentum representation method and the Lorentz-covariant coordinate-space method recently introduced by Meyer. Both connected and disconnected contributions have been computed on $N_{\mathrm{f}}=2+1$ non-perturbatively $O(a)$-improved Wilson fermions configurations from the CLS initiative. Similar covariant coordinate-space methods can be used to compute the leading hadronic contribution to the anomalous…

Semi-leptonic charm baryon decays in the relativistic spectator quark model

1991

We calculate the exclusive semi-leptonic charm baryon decays of the lowest lying charm baryon states into the ground state strangeness baryons using the covariant spectator quark model approach. We present results on rates,q 2- andE l -spectra as well as on the angular decay distribution in the cascade decay $$\Omega _c \to \Omega ( \to \Xi \pi ,\Lambda {\rm K})$$ .

Physical observables in the decay Λb→Λc(→Λ+π)+τ−+ν̄τ

2015

We analyze the tauonic semileptonic baryon decays [Formula: see text] with particular emphasis on the lepton helicity flip contributions which vanish for zero lepton masses. We calculate the total rate, differential decay distributions, the longitudinal and transverse polarization components of the [Formula: see text] and the [Formula: see text], and the lepton-side forward-backward asymmetries. We use the covariant confined quark model to provide numerical results on these observables.

Statistical mechanics of the NLS models and their avatars

2006

“In Vishnuland what avatar? Or who in Moscow (Leningrad) towards the czar [1]”. The different manifestations (avatars) of the Nonlinear Schrodinger equation (NLS models) are described including both classical and quantum integrable cases. For reasons explained the sinh-Gordon and sine-Gordon models, which can be interpreted as covariant manifestations of the ‘repulsive’ and ‘attractive’ NLS models, respectively, are chosen as generic models for the statistical mechanics. It is shown in the text how the quantum and classical free energies can be calculated by a method of functional integration which uses the classical action-angle variables on the real line with decaying boundary conditions,…

Discreteness effects on a sine-Gordon breather

1991

We employ collective-variable theory to describe the dynamics of a breather excitation in its center-of-mass frame in continuous and discrete systems of one spatial dimension. The exact equations of motion for the collective variable and coupled phonon field are derived for any system which supports breatherlike excitations that have even spatial parity where the collective variable represents half the distance between the breather subkinks. We then specialize the theory to the sine-Gordon (SG) case. For the continuum SG system we derive the exact effective potential in terms of the collective variable and discuss the relativistic effects on the breather subkinks which are quite different t…

Anisotropic deformations in a class of projectively-invariant metric-affine theories of gravity

2020

Among the general class of metric-affine theories of gravity, there is a special class conformed by those endowed with a projective symmetry. Perhaps the simplest manner to realise this symmetry is by constructing the action in terms of the symmetric part of the Ricci tensor. In these theories, the connection can be solved algebraically in terms of a metric that relates to the spacetime metric by means of the so-called deformation matrix that is given in terms of the matter fields. In most phenomenological applications, this deformation matrix is assumed to inherit the symmetries of the matter sector so that in the presence of an isotropic energy-momentum tensor, it respects isotropy. In th…

On the Weyl transverse frames in type I spacetimes

2004

We apply a covariant and generic procedure to obtain explicit expressions of the transverse frames that a type I spacetime admits in terms of an arbitrary initial frame. We also present a simple and general algorithm to obtain the Weyl scalars $\Psi_2^T$, $\Psi_0^T$ and $\Psi_4^T$ associated with these transverse frames. In both cases it is only necessary to choose a particular root of a cubic expression.

Perturbations of spacetime: gauge transformations and gauge invariance at second order and beyond

1996

We consider in detail the problem of gauge dependence that exists in relativistic perturbation theory, going beyond the linear approximation and treating second and higher order perturbations. We first derive some mathematical results concerning the Taylor expansion of tensor fields under the action of one-parameter families (not necessarily groups) of diffeomorphisms. Second, we define gauge invariance to an arbitrary order $n$. Finally, we give a generating formula for the gauge transformation to an arbitrary order and explicit rules to second and third order. This formalism can be used in any field of applied general relativity, such as cosmological and black hole perturbations, as well …
