Since their appearance, from the first exhibition in London in 1851 to the future in Milan in 2015, we still wonder about the aim of these events. Their role changed, some skills lose their value, and others appeared. Few works focuses on this subject, of which we get sometime only the impetus for the host country to recreate her international image, when, on the contrary, those events become leading urban tools from one continent to another. Il progetto dello Zen rappresenta un momento fondamentale nel percorso progettuale dell'autore, per la sua attenzione alla dimensione urbana: in relazione a questo, il testo richiama due temi fondamentali esplicitati sugli editoriali di Casabelle, di cui Gregotti fu direttore per 15 anni: la teoria e l'ordine.

Designed by James Corner – Field Operation with Diller & Scofidio + Renfro, the High Line elevated Park is set on top of a forsaken elevated railroad structure in the old Manhattan’s meatpacking district. In over 20 years of abandonment, a lush urban wilderness has converted the High Line's tracks into a spontaneous greenway, whose unexpected beauty inspired the new park design, now matching with the huge regeneration of the Hudson Riverfront.
