Lens-vault analysis and its correlation with other biometric parameters using swept-source OCT

2021

Purpose To measure lens vault (LV) and to assess its correlation with various ocular parameters in healthy eyes, using for all measurements the same high-resolution swept-source optical coherence tomographer (SS-OCT). Methods We prospectively recruited 67 Caucasian healthy patients whose mean age was 41.9 ± 12.4 years; only their right eye was included in the study. Data were all recorded with the ANTERION SS-OCT and comprised, for each patient, 5 consecutive measurements of LV, anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT), axial length (AL), white-to-white (WTW) distance, central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber volume (ACV) and spur-to-spur (STS) distance. Results Mean LV wa…

The reliability, distribution, and responsiveness of the Postural Control and Balance for Stroke Test

2005

Abstract Pyoria O, Talvitie U, Villberg J. The reliability, distribution, and responsiveness of the Postural Control and Balance for Stroke Test. Objectives To determine the inter- and intrarater reliability of the Postural Control and Balance for Stroke (PCBS) test and to assess its distribution and responsiveness to changes during 1-year follow-up. Design Intrarater reliability of the PCBS test was assessed by comparing the repeat ratings of videotaped test performances by each of the 5 raters. Interrater reliability was assessed by comparing the ratings of the videotaped test performances between the raters. Setting Hospital neurologic ward and outpatient department of physiotherapy as w…

Studies of Quantum Chromodynamics with the ALEPH Detector

1998

Previously published and as vet unpublished QCD results obtained with the ALEPH detector at LEP1 are presented. The unprecedented statistics allows detailed studies of both perturbative and non-perturbative aspects of strong interactions to be carried out using hadronic Z and tau decays. The studies presented include precise determinations of the strong coupling constant. tests of its flavour independence, tests of the SU(3) gauge structure of QCD, study of coherence effects, and measurements of single-particle inclusive distributions and two-particle correlations for many identified baryons and mesons. Multichannel multiple scattering calculation ofL2,3-edge spectra ofTiO2andSrTiO3: Importance of multiplet coupling and band structure

2010

We report a theoretical study on x-ray absorption spectroscopy at the Ti-${L}_{2,3}$-edge of rutile and anatase ${\text{TiO}}_{2}$ as well as ${\text{SrTiO}}_{3}$. Using the first-principles multichannel multiple-scattering method, we obtain good agreement with experiment in all cases. We show that both multiplet-type electron correlation effects and the long-range band structure strongly influence the spectra. The differences in line shape between the three compounds are essentially a long-range effect which reflects the different crystal structures on a length scale of 1 nm.

Effect of different ergonomic supports on muscle activity of dentists during posterior composite restoration

2019

BackgroundThe aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different ergonomic supports on the muscle activity of two trunk muscles while a group of dentists performed a common dental procedure on a phantom head, divided into three tasks.MethodsA one-way repeated measures study (ANOVA) was conducted on a group of 36 dentists. The middle trapezius and lumbar erector spinae muscles were measured with and without the use of different ergonomic supports (ergonomic stool, magnification lenses and both) using a portable surface electromyography (sEMG) device. Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) and the absolute standard error of measurement (SEM) were used to establish the reliability o…

Solution of the Skyrme-Hartree–Fock–Bogolyubovequations in the Cartesian deformed harmonic-oscillator basis. (VIII) hfodd (v2.73y): A new version of …

2017

We describe the new version (v2.73y) of the code HFODD which solves the nuclear Skyrme Hartree-Fock or Skyrme Hartree-Fock-Bogolyubov problem by using the Cartesian deformed harmonic-oscillator basis. In the new version, we have implemented the following new features: (i) full proton-neutron mixing in the particle-hole channel for Skyrme functionals, (ii) the Gogny force in both particle-hole and particle-particle channels, (iii) linear multi-constraint method at finite temperature, (iv) fission toolkit including the constraint on the number of particles in the neck between two fragments, calculation of the interaction energy between fragments, and calculation of the nuclear and Coulomb ene…

Constant, cycling, hot and cold thermal environments: strong effects on mean viability but not on genetic estimates

2012

It has frequently been suggested that trait heritabilities are environmentally sensitive, and there are genetic trade-offs between tolerating different environments such as hot and cold or constant and fluctuating temperatures. Future climate predictions suggest an increase in both temperatures and their fluctuations. How species will respond to these changes is uncertain, particularly as there is a lack of studies which compare genetic performances in constant vs. fluctuating environments. In this study, we used a nested full-sib/half-sib breeding design to examine how the genetic variances and heritabilities of egg-to-adult viability differ at high and low temperatures with and without da…

Comparison of selection criteria for milk yield traits of Valle del Belice dairy sheep.

2006

Abstract The objectives of this work were to investigate alternative selection criteria for milk yield traits in the Valle del Belice sheep breed, which are either corrected for lactation length or not affected by lactation length, to estimate genetic parameters for these alternative selection criteria and to compare the estimated breeding values. The genetic correlations show that corrected milk yield (CMY), maximum test-day yield (MTY) and milk yield at hundred days (MYH), are moderately or weakly correlated with lactation length (LL) ( r g  = 0.58, 0.16 and 0.39, respectively). Higher genetic correlation was found between total milk yield (TMY) and LL ( r g  = 0.73). Rank correlations be…

Lipids, Lipoproteins and Apolipoproteins AI AII, B, CII, CIII</sub…

1991

In this study lipid and apolipoprotein patterns were investigated at birth and compared with those of adults. In cord sera, cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol were 38.2, 46.2, 50.5, and 31.9%, respectively, of adult values. Apolipoprotein AII, B and CIII were 48.6, 30.6 and 44.5% of adult values, while apo AI, apo CII and apo E showed values approaching those of adults (63.4, 73.3 and 89.7%, respectively). Also cholesterol/HDL cholesterol and LDL cholesterol/HDL cholesterol ratios were lower in newborns. In cord sera, l…

Sequestration of alkyltin(IV) cations by complexation with amino-polycarboxylic chelating agents

2013

Abstract The binding capacity of four amino-polycarboxylic ligands (APCs) [nitrilotriacetate (NTA), ethylenediamine- N , N , N′ , N′ -tetraacetate (EDTA), (S,S)-ethylenediamine- N , N ′-disuccinic acid (S,S-EDDS) and diethylenetriamine- N , N , N′ , N″ , N″ -pentaacetate (DTPA)] towards mono-, di- and tri-alkyltin(IV) cations [(CH 3 )Sn 3 + , (CH 3 ) 2 Sn 2 + , (C 2 H 5 ) 2 Sn 2 + , (CH 3 ) 3 Sn + or (C 2 H 5 ) 3 Sn + ] was studied, in aqueous solutions, by ISE-H + potentiometry, at I  = 0.1 mol L − 1 (NaCl) and at T  = 298.15 K. In all the systems R x Sn (4 − x)+  − APC (R = CH 3 or C 2 H 5 ) a strong 1:1 species is formed together with protonated, hydroxo and dinuclear complexes. The valu…
