Amyloid fibrils are highly ordered aggregates whose formation occurs during the development of several serious disorders, like Althzeimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Even if most biophysical investigations of fibril formation have attempted to elucidate the structural events that occur during amyloid fibril assembly, relatively little is known about the thermodynamics of the aggregated protein state, and the kinetic mechanisms of its formation. Inactivation and polymerization of human neuroserpin

Neuroserpin is an inhibitory enzyme, belonging to the family of serpins and involved in several pathologies, such as ischemia, Alzheimer disease, and FENIB (Familial Encephalopathy with Neuroserpin Inclusion Body). Here, we study the mechanism of neuroserpin inactivation and polymerization by different experimental techniques (static and dynamic light scattering, liquid chromatography, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, emission spectroscopy). Our results show that at intermediate temperatures (45-55 °C) neuroserpin forms flexible polymers with a size from a few tens to a few hundreds of nanometers. Neuroserpin (NS) is a serine protease inhibitor (SERPIN) involved in different neurological pathologies, including the Familial Encephalopathy with Neuroserpin Inclusion Bodies (FENIB), related to the aberrant polymerization of NS mutants. Here we present an in vitro and in silico characterization of native NS and its dysfunctional conformation isoforms: the proteolytically cleaved conformer, the inactive latent conformer, and the polymeric conformer. The role played by newsmedia in the perception of the Other is central in a democracy because the foreigner-enemy frame and the description of the migratory phenomenon as a menace offered by journalism may contribute to the spread of racism and influence migration policies in order to ensure safety. In this paper I will underline the presence of some linguistic strategies used by Italian newsmedia to present migrants as a danger and will put them in connection with infotainment logic and the new flow of direct digital communication between individuals and leaders.

La monografia ricostruisce l'evoluzione del giornalismo-spettacolo in Italia, collegandola ad un più ampio contesto internazionale. In particolare viene messo in evidenza il processo di spettacolarizzazione della realtà favorito dai media nell'ambito delle trasformazioni del giornalismo on line. Il lavoro si concentra poi sulle peculiarità dei nuovi formati giornalistici con particolare riferimento ai prodotti ibridi più recenti come il criminality show.
Combined TL and 10B-alanine ESR dosimetry for BNCT

The dosimetric technique described in this paper is based on electron spin resonance (ESR) detectors using an alanine-boric compound acid enriched with 1 0 B, and beryllium oxide thermoluminescent (TL) detectors; with this combined dosimetry, it is possible to discriminate the doses due to thermal neutrons and gamma radiation in a mixed field. Irradiations were carried out inside the thermal column of a TRIGA MARK II water-pool-type research nuclear reactor, also used for Boron Neutron Capture therapy (BNCT) applications, with thermal neutron fluence from 10 9 to 10 1 4 n t h cm - 2 .
