Measuring autonomy freedom
2006
In the measurement of autonomy freedom, the admissible potential preference relations are elicited by means of the concept of ‘reasonableness’. In this paper we argue for an alternative criterion based on information about the decision maker’s ‘awareness’ of his available opportunities. We argue that such an inter- pretation of autonomy fares better than that based on reasonableness. We then introduce some axioms that capture this intuition and study their logical impli- cations. In the process, a new measure of autonomy freedom is characterized, which generalizes some of the measures so far constructed in the literature.
The Application of Accounting Methodology of Radar Charts to Analyze the Sector of Sawmilling and Planning of Wood of Austria
2015
The accounting methodology of radar charts (AMRCh) explains the behavior of companies through average periods of maturation of management activity on short term. These variables represented on each one of axes of radar chart allow measure the activity of companies, applying the cosine and sine theorems of plane geometry. The analysis of activity is for each one of areas represented on a radar chart through by non-slanted indicators. This study shows that frontier effect carry out companies to adopt a sectorial management to maintain their activity. This manuscript presents the basic theory of AMRCh, firstly. Secondly, the study analyzes the management of industrial sector, which carries the…

Towards a Hostessing Society? Mobile Arrangements of Gender and Labour
2008
This article theorizes the forms and interrelations of mobilized work and arrangements of gender in the context of “new work”: an ideology of the flexible labour market of the new economy from the perspective of the workers. The notion of new work is further complicated by the thesis of the feminization of work, whereby, on the one hand, temporary employment is increasingly common also among men and, on the other, attributes and conditions formerly connected to women and understood as feminine virtues or domestic skills are now required from both women and men. Meanwhile, women migrate and are trafficked from poor countries to wealthy ones to perform a range of “old work” for women. Here, t…
SOVIET PERIOD FILMS IN TODAY’S COPYRIGHT LAW: GERMAN AND BALTIC EXPERIENCE
2014
1. Introduction Within society, films (1) have several functions. They serve as mass media, still most essential today, apart from the internet. They are a form of artistic expression, and an economical factor. While its function as mass media has always been dominant since the creation of the first 'motion pictures' around 1900--and therefore served as an ideal propaganda tool for various regimes--the importance of the artistic and the economic aspect changed over time. In the Soviet Union, the value of films and movies as means of information, education and propaganda was realized from its earliest days. Mosfilm, founded in 1920, as the oldest European film studio and long being the large…
A Comprehensive Analysis Regarding DESI Country Progress for Romania Relative to the European Average Trend
2017
Abstract In the absence of globally coherent specifications and standards, digitalization would never have spread across the world in such a huge extent as it did.
GIS-data related route optimization, hierarchical clustering, location optimization, and kernel density methods are useful for promoting distributed …
2019
Currently, geographic information system (GIS) models are popular for studying location-allocation-related questions concerning bioenergy plants. The aim of this study was to develop a model to investigate optimal locations for two different types of bioenergy plants, for farm and centralized biogas plants, and for wood terminals in rural areas based on minimizing transportation distances. The optimal locations of biogas plants were determined using location optimization tools in R software, and the optimal locations of wood terminals were determined using kernel density tools in ArcGIS. The present case study showed that the utilized GIS tools are useful for bioenergy-related decision-maki…
The influence of transport offer on passenger traffic in the railway transport system in a post-socialist country : case study of Poland
2021
Abstract The study examines factors influencing the number of rail passengers in Poland. The subjects of observation were 62 cities with poviat rights. The main factors influencing demand are the number of connections and the speed of trains. Therefore, we developed an original indicator – weighted number of connections, which takes into account the number of rail connections and the speed of trains. The article can be divided into two main parts: an assessment of the diversification of transport offer and transport demand in spatial terms, and an evaluation of the relationship between the variables. Poland has a large spatial diversity in terms of public rail transport offer and passenger …
