This PhD thesis is an assemblage of papers addressing 1) disability, illness and physical activity; and 2) (post)qualitative inquiry. The thesis tackles the case of Patrick, a man living with poor prognostic cancer and paraplegia. Overall, it examines in-depth how narrative and material forces acted by shaping Patrick’s struggle of becoming, and which role physical activity played in his life post-diagnosis. Data was obtained from life-story interviews, participant-produced images in different formats and object interviews, as well as three years of informal interactions with Patrick. Sponge‐Like Behaviour in Isoreticular Cu(Gly‐His‐X) Peptide‐Based Porous Materials

We report two isoreticular 3D peptide-based porous frameworks formed by coordination of the tripeptides Gly-L-His-Gly and Gly-L-His-L-Lys to Cu(II) which display sponge-like behaviour. These porous materials undergo structural collapse upon evacuation that can be reversed by exposure to water vapour, which permits recovery of the original open channel structure. This is further confirmed by sorption studies that reveal that both solids exhibit selective sorption of H2 O while CO2 adsorption does not result in recovery of the original structures. New high-pressure phase and equation of state of Ce2Zr2O8

In this paper we report a new high-pressure rhombohedral phase of Ce2Zr2O8 observed from high-pressure angle-dispersive x-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy studies up to nearly 12 GPa. The ambient-pressure cubic phase of Ce2Zr2O8 transforms to a rhombohedral structure beyond 5 GPa with a feeble distortion in the lattice. Pressure evolution of unit-cell volume showed a change in compressibility above 5 GPa. The unit-cell parameters of the high-pressure rhombohedral phase at 12.1 GPa are ah = 14.6791(3) {\AA}, ch = 17.9421(5) {\AA}, V = 3348.1(1) {\AA}3. This paper presents a comparison of three post-weld treatments for fatigue life improvement of welded joints. The objective is to determine the most suitable post-weld treatment for implementation in mass production of certain crane components manufactured from very high-strength steel. The processes investigated are: burr grinding, TIG dressing and ultrasonic impact treatment. The focus of this investigation is on the so-called medium cycle area, i.e. 10 000-500 000 cycles and very high stress ranges. The present paper deals with the decision of the Italian Constitutional Court to refer a preliminary ruling to the European Court of Justice on the well-known case "Taricco". The latter, in 2015, stated that the Italian law on statute of limitations was inconsistent with the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, having regard to the obligation upon Member States, stemming from art. 325 TFUE. Sin embargo, la dimensión formal y material de la Teoría son inseparables. Ferrajoli opta por un concepto meramente teórico y formal de los derechos que olvida su inevitable dimensión axiológica.
