Mucoadhesive Polymer Hyaluronan as Biodegradable Cationic/Zwitterionic-Drug Delivery Vehicle

Mucoadhesive polymers in pharmaceutical formulations release drugs in mucosal areas. They interact and fix to mucus via molecular interpenetration, etc ., which increase drug bioavailability. Polymers physicochemical properties affect formulation mucoadhesion, rheological behaviour and drug absorption. Hyaluronan (HA) is selected as a mucoadhesive and biodegradable polymer. Geometric, topological and fractal analyses are carried out with program TOPO. Reference calculations are performed with algorithm GEPOL. Procedure TOPO underestimates molecular volume by 0.7%. The formation and structural features of negatively charged aggregates of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOTNa) surfactant molecules in the gas phase have been investigated by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) and density functional theory calculations. The extension of peptide derivatives of ferrocene-1,1'-dicarboxylic acid by formal insertion of NH units between ferrocene and peptide strands results in ferrocene-bis(ureido)-peptides. Experimentally, alanine and dialanine methyl esters were attached to the 1- and 1'-position of 1,1'-diiso-cyanoferrocene to give the corresponding bis(ureido)peptide derivatives 3 and 4. The conformation of 3 has been determined in the solid state by X-ray crystallography. In solution the preferred conformation of 3 and 4 has been elucidated by NMR, IR and CD spectroscopy in concert with DFT calculations. The synthesis and properties of calix[n]crowns (n = 4–8), calix[n]biscrowns and their related compounds, resorcinarene crowns, have been discussed and reviewed. These macrocycles exhibit remarkable ionophoric properties toward alkali and alkaline earth metal cations, as well as, to tertiary amines. The selectivity and efficiency of calixcrowns in binding cations have been attributed to their structural features, which include substituent effects and size of the crown ether moiety and, conformation of the parent calixarene.

In this work, the interactions between the divalent alkaline earth elements (AEE) (Sr, Ba, Ra), the trivalent rare earth elements (REE) (Ce-Lu, Y), and Ac(III) with Sr-resin were investigated in the presence of HNO3, HCl, HBr, HClO4, and HPF6. Distribution coefficients of these ions on the Sr-resin were determined under batch-loading conditions. Lastly, online column separations were performed to demonstrate the utility of these systems. Substantial differences in the behavior of the ions in solutions comprised of the five different acids were observed. Pseudopeptidic ligands: exploring the self-assembly of isophthaloylbisglycine (H2IBG) and divalent metal ions.

We present a systematic study of the complexation of the new pseudopeptidic ligand isophthaloylbisglycine (H(2)IBG) with divalent metal ions of varying ionic radius. This work represents the initial employment of H(2)IBG in the coordination chemistry of alkaline earth, 3d transition, Zn(II) and Cd(II) metal elements. Infrared, NMR, thermal, magnetic, adsorption and theoretical studies of these compounds are also discussed.

Thiol-passivated gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) of a relatively small size, either decorated with chromophoric groups, such as a phthalimide (Au@PH) and benzophenone (Au@BP), or capped with octadecanethiol (Au@ODCN) have been synthesized and characterized by NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy as well as transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Abstract Some probe catalytic photooxidation reactions with aliphatic and aromatic organic compounds having different acid strengths, i.e. methanoic acid, ethanoic acid, benzoic acid and 4-nitrophenol, were carried out in aqueous systems by using polycrystalline TiO2 powders doped with various transition metal ions (Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mo, V and W). The Co-doped powder showed to be more photoactive than the bare TiO2 for methanoic acid degradation while the behaviour of TiO2/Cu and TiO2/Fe was similar to that of the support. Acid–base properties of two sodium polymethacrylates (W= 4000 and 5400 Da) were studied potentiometrically in aqueous solution at 25 °C. Measurements were made in different salt solutions: LiCl 0.1–1.5, NaCl 0.1–2, KCl 0.1–2, Et4NI 0.1–0.75 mol l − 1 , and in artificial seawater in the salinity range 10 S 45. Protonation data were analysed by two different models and the dependence of the relative parameters on ionic strength were calculated. Azacycloalkanes and azacyclophanes are among the first macrocyclic ligands developed in the field of supramolecular chemistry. Since they are polyamines, they show dual nature in the coordination of both metal cations, when they are in the free-base form, and anionic species, when they are protonated. As a matter of fact, they played a key role in the birth of macrocyclic chemistry of transition metal complexes and anion coordination chemistry. Furthermore, azacyclophanes fostered also the birth of apolar complexation in aqueous solution, since their aromatic units act as binding sites for apolar substrates.
