POSTOPERATIVE COMPLICATIONS,PAIN AND QUALITY OF LIFE AFTER THORACOSCOPIC OF THOREACOTOMIC LOBECTOMY FOR LUNG CANCER

Aim: Thoracoscopic lobectomy is superior to thoracotomy, but the evidence for this assumption is low. We present a comparison between thoracotomy and thoracoscopy in term of postoperative complications, mortality, postoperative, hospital stay and quaklity of life. Patients and methods: This is a rectrospective analysis of 224 lobectomies in 24-months. 128 patients (57.1%) were operated by thoracotomy; 96 patients (42.9%) by videothoracoscopy. Results: Major complications were observed in 4/128 (3.1%) in thoracotomy group and in 1/96 (16.7%) thoracoscopy. Thoracoscopy patients had a shorter hospital stay. A comparatively rare case of familial nystagmus is reported in a girl whose family tree was studied and the interest of which, apart from the need for greater involvement of health personnel and of school staff in campaigns for prevention of sight disturbances in infancy, was mainly related to the particular recessive trasmission bound to chromosome X with incomplete penetrance. The multiplicity of hereditary trasmission, in fact, explains the relative capricious expressivity of this pathological condition which should be born in mild in the event of genetic consultancy.
Resident’s Perceptions of Tourism Influence on Quality of Life: a Multilevel approach.

This study aims to evaluate whether individual perceptions of tourism’s effects on quality of life (TQOL) are related to the degree of tourism activity in the host community, as well as to residents’ personal characteristics, by a multilevel model. Data from a survey performed in Sicily have been analyzed. The model revealed that the level of tourism activity have an influence on the way residents perceive the effect tourism in their community, as measured by TOQL index.

This study examined the effectiveness of intensive shoulder strength training on disability, health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and shoulder function in patients who had undergone rotator cuff repair (RCR). In addition, the self- report section of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Standardized Assessment Form (ASES) was cross-culturally adapted to the Finnish language and the psychometric properties of the Finnish version were assessed. AbstractInfantile hemangiomas may affect the quality of life (QoL) of patients and their family members, as anxiety and worry may commonly occur in parents, also linked to the social adversion they experience. We underline the beneficial impact of oral propranolol therapy on QoL of patients with infantile hemangiomas (IH) and of their relatives. Insomnia, vasomotor symptoms (VMS) and depression often co-occur after the menopause, with consequent health problems and reductions in quality of life. The aim of this position statement is to provide evidence-based advice on the management of postmenopausal sleep disorders derived from a systematic review of the literature. The latter yielded results on VMS, insomnia, circadian rhythm disorders, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and restless leg syndrome (RLS).
