Regardless of the amount of open educational resources (OER) available, many learning object repositories LORs fail to attract active users and sustainable funding solutions. Previous studies indicate that quality of OER plays a significant role in the success of the repositories; however, there is a lack of systematic deeper understanding of this connection. If appropriately implemented, open databases of instruction material may help teaching and learning by providing content for teaching activities, scaffolding, and self-assessment. The paper presents the current results of the development and implementation of a database that is expressly built for promoting exchange of questions and exercises, together with the associated solutions among teachers for STEM subjects. The latest reorganization of the Vertebrate collections preserved at the “Pietro Doderlein” Museum of Zoology of the University of Palermo (Italy) has made it possible to draw up a check-list of the Mammal taxa present in the stuffed (M), fluid-preserved (ML) and anatomical (AN) collections. The intervention was planned under the National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC) agenda, focused on the enhancement of Italian natural history museums. Tracer migration in crystalline rock : application to geological barriers of nuclear waste storage

This work deals with transport of radionuclides in the geosphere. The subject is investigated through characterisation of water conducting fractures, determining of rock transport properties and development of new methods for characterising geological samples. Here, as is often the case, radionuclide transport is investigated indirectly by characterising the structures, where the transport takes place, and directly by measuring transport properties in the gas phase. This study takes a closer look at the Ranking Web of Universities and Ranking Web of Repositories rankings and tries to examine if there is a connection between these two rankings. Study is done by analyzing the success of University of Jyväskylä and the institutional repository JyX of the University in these rankings. Comparison shows that the JyX archive plays an important role in University’s success especially when analyzing the presence and openness of the University. W artykule omówiono – na przykładzie Uniwersytetu Opolskiego – trzy obszary działalności informacyjnej oraz komunikacji naukowej na podstawie sieciowego obiegu informacji z wykorzystaniem sieci Internet – udostępnianie światowych baz danych w ramach tzw. licencji krajowych, uczelnianych repozytoriów instytucjonalnych oraz realizowanie polityki otwartego dostępu. Obszary tej działalności należą obecnie do strategicznych zadań zespołów, które odpowiadają za zarządzanie dostępem do informacji naukowej.
