Discusses the notions of national identity, national music and popular music as they emerged in Italian music periodicals during the years 1840–1890, in relation to the process of Italy’s political unification and the dissemination of foreign operas such as French grands opéras in the years 1840–1870 and Wagner’s Musikdramen from 1871 on. Essays and articles by relevant critics and musicians, such as Abramo Basevi and Francesco D’Arcais are discussed. Articles by lesser known journalists such as Pietro Cominazzi and Mattia Cipollone are also taken into account. Il saggio è l’esito di un’approfondita ricerca sull’architetto palermitano Alessandro Emmanuele Marvuglia (1771-1845), figlio del più noto Giuseppe Venanzio (1729-1814). La ricerca ha consentito di inquadrare l’importante personalità in maniera molto più ampia di come non si sia stato fatto fino ad allora, così da valutare la caratura del personaggio anche nell’ambio del processo di diffusione della cultura neoclassica a partire dalle accademie romane, come quella della Pace di cui il Marvuglia fu un protagonista. My research investigates the proposal of the education’s philosopher Aldo Capitini about the nonviolent teaching in the Italian Second Post-War infant and primary school and focuses on the nonviolent educational practices which has been carried out. Especially, Idana Pescioli, a teacher of the primary and infant school, has been the one to experiment new educational methodologies and a nonviolent approach in the schools of children.
