〈VAP〉 Green function in the resonance region

2004

Abstract We analyze the 〈 V A P 〉 three-point function of vector, axial-vector and pseudoscalar currents. In the spirit of large N C , a resonance dominated Green function is confronted with the leading high-energy behaviour from the operator product expansion. The matching is shown to be fully compatible with a chiral resonance Lagrangian and it allows to determine some of the chiral low-energy constants of O ( p 6 ) .

Rare decay η→ππγγ in chiral perturbation theory

1996

We investigate the rare radiative {eta} decay modes {eta}{r_arrow}{pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup {minus}}{gamma}{gamma} and {eta}{r_arrow}{pi}{sup 0}{pi}{sup 0}{gamma}{gamma} within the framework of chiral perturbation theory at {ital O}({ital p}{sup 4}). We present photon spectra and partial decay rates for both processes as well as a Dalitz contour plot for the charged decay. {copyright} {ital 1996 The American Physical Society.}

Locality properties of Neuberger's lattice Dirac operator

1998

The gauge covariant lattice Dirac operator D which has recently been proposed by Neuberger satisfies the Ginsparg-Wilson relation and thus preserves chiral symmetry. The operator also avoids a doubling of fermion species, but its locality properties are not obvious. We now prove that D is local (with exponentially decaying tails) if the gauge field is sufficiently smooth at the scale of the cutoff. Further analytic and numerical studies moreover suggest that the locality of the operator is in fact guaranteed under far more general conditions.

Resonances, chiral symmetry, coupled channel unitarity and effective Lagrangians

1999

By means of a coupled channel non-perturbative unitary approach, it is possible to extend the strong constrains of Chiral Perturbation Theory to higher energies. In particular, it is possible to reproduce the lowest lying resonances in meson-meson scattering up to 1.2 GeV using the parameters of the O(p^2) and O(p^4) Chiral Lagrangian. We report on an update of these results examining their possible relevance for meson spectroscopy.

Radiative production of the Λ(1405) resonance in K− collisions on protons and nuclei

1999

We have carried a theoretical study of the K^- p\to M B \gamma reaction with M B = K^-p, \bar{K}^0 n, \pi^- \Sigma^+, \pi^+ \Sigma^-, \pi^0 \Sigma^0, \pi^0 \Lambda, for K^- lab. momenta between 200 and 500 MeV/c, using a chiral unitary approach for the strong K^-p interaction with its coupled channels. The \Lambda(1405) resonance, which is generated dynamically in this approach, shows up clearly in the d\sigma/dM_I spectrum, providing new tests for chiral symmetry and the unitary approach, as well as information regarding the nature of the resonance. The photon detection alone, summing all channels, is shown to reproduce quite accurately the strength and shape of the \Lambda(1405) resonance…

Geometric efficiency for a circular detector and a linear source of arbitrary orientation and position

2010

A new axisymmetric radiation vector potential which is singular along its entire axis of symmetry is derived for a spherically symmetric point radiation source. This potential and a previously given non-singular point source potential are integrated to give radiation vector potentials for a straight linear source of constant strength. Analytical solutions are given for the geometric efficiency G of a line source and a circular disk detector when the line source is parallel to the detector axis. The analytical solution is also given for the case where the line source is parallel to the disk surface, such that the source axis and the detector axis intersect. All other cases are given as simpl…

Fully covariant and conformal formulation of the Z4 system in a reference-metric approach: Comparison with the BSSN formulation in spherical symmetry

2014

We adopt a reference-metric approach to generalize a covariant and conformal version of the Z4 system of the Einstein equations. We refer to the resulting system as ``fully covariant and conformal", or fCCZ4 for short, since it is well suited for curvilinear as well as Cartesian coordinates. We implement this fCCZ4 formalism in spherical polar coordinates under the assumption of spherical symmetry using a partially-implicit Runge-Kutta (PIRK) method and show that our code can evolve both vacuum and non-vacuum spacetimes without encountering instabilities. Our method does not require regularization of the equations to handle coordinate singularities, nor does it depend on constraint-preservi…

Polarization corrections to single-particle energies studied within the energy-density-functional and quasiparticle random-phase approximation approa…

2014

Background: Models based on using perturbative polarization corrections and mean-field blocking approximation give conflicting results for masses of odd nuclei. Purpose: We systematically investigate the polarization and mean-field models, implemented within self-consistent approaches that use identical interactions and model spaces, to find reasons for the conflicts between them. Methods: For density-dependent interactions and with pairing correlations included, we derive and study links between the mean-field and polarization results obtained for energies of odd nuclei. We also identify and discuss differences between the polarization-correction and full particle-vibration-coupling (PVC) …
