Manualized cognitive therapy versus cognitive-behavioral treatment-as-usual for social anxiety disorder in routine practice: A cluster-randomized con…

2016

Abstract Objective This study examined the effectiveness of manualized cognitive therapy (mCT) following the Clark-Wells approach versus non-manualized cognitive-behavioral treatment-as-usual (CBTAU) for social anxiety disorder (SAD) in routine practice. Methods Forty-eight private practitioners were recruited within a multi-center trial and either received training in manualized CT for SAD or no such training. Practitioners treated 162 patients with SAD in routine practice (N = 107 completers, n = 57 for mCT, n = 50 for CBTAU). Social anxiety symptoms (Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale; LSAS) and secondary measures were assessed before treatment, at treatment-hour 8, 15, and 25, at end of tre…

Randomized trial of albinterferon alfa-2b every 4 weeks for chronic hepatitis C virus genotype 2/3

2012

Albinterferon alfa-2b (albIFN) is a fusion protein of recombinant human albumin/recombinant interferon (IFN)-α-2b, with ∼200-h half-life. Safety/efficacy of albIFN q4wk was evaluated in 391 treatment-naive patients with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) genotype 2/3. Patients were randomized 3:4:4:4 to one of four open-label treatment groups: pegylated IFN (Peg-IFN)-α-2a 180 μg qwk or albIFN 900, 1200 or 1500 μg q4wk, plus oral ribavirin 800 mg/day, for 24 weeks. Primary efficacy endpoint was sustained virologic response (SVR; HCV RNA <20 IU/mL 24 weeks post-treatment). SVR rates were as follows: 85%, 76%, 76% and 78% with Peg-IFNα-2a and albIFN 900, 1200 and 1500 μg, respectively (P = NS); c…

Diagnosis, treatment and long-term outcomes of autoimmune pancreatitis in Spain based on the International Consensus Diagnostic Criteria: A multi-cen…

2015

Abstract Objectives Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is a form of chronic pancreatitis that has been reported worldwide for the last two decades. The aim of this study is to analyse the clinical profile of patients from Spain with AIP, as well as treatments, relapses and long-term outcomes. Methods Data from 59 patients with suspected AIP that had been diagnosed in 15 institutions are retrospectively analysed. Subjects are classified according to the International Consensus Diagnostic Criteria (ICDC). Patients with type 1 AIP (AIP1) and type 2 AIP (AIP2) are compared. Kaplan–Meier methodology is used to estimate the overall survival without relapses. Results Fifty-two patients met ICDC, 45 pat…

Assessment of EVAR Complications using CIRSE Complication Classification System in the UK Tertiary Referral Centre: A ∼6-Year Retrospective Analysis …

2021

Purpose: To retrospectively analyse complications in endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) interventions and evaluate if the CIRSE (Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe) complication classification system is appropriate as a standardized classification tool for EVAR patients. Materials and Methods: Demographic, procedural and complication data in 719 consecutive patients undergoing EVAR at one institution from January 2014 to October 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. Data (imaging reports, procedural reports, nurse notes, discharge summary reports) were collected consulting the electronic patient record system (EPR) of the hospital and cleaned and stored in a Micro…

Reliability and validity of the Digigraph 100 in orthodontic diagnosis.

2001

Cephalometric analyses of lateral cephalograms allow important statements to be made on diagnosis and treatment planning. Such radiographs should, however, be taken with a considerable reduction in radiation exposure. With the Digigraph 100 (Dolphin Imaging Systems Inc., USA) a cephalometric technique based on distance measurements of emitted sonic signals is now available. This study was aimed at determining the degree to which this procedure can cope with the requirements of reliability and validity in the field of orthodontics. For this purpose 50 volunteers were examined by conventional cephalometry with manual tracing of lateral cephalograms as well as by sonic cephalometry, with Jarab…

The BFMNU method as an alternative to the methods in use based on energy: study of the correlation between food energy and body mass

2018

Abstract Introduction: to establish slimming guidelines and any other changing treatments is useful to know the individual's energy expenditure due to the fact that, nowadays, the incidence of many diseases related to the loss of lean mass and the accumulation of adipose tissue has increased. The dietary treatments are carried out on calculating the energy contained in food, and then put in relation to the total energy expended by the body in order to produce changes in body mass. Objective: the aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between the food energy and body mass of different subjects in various pathophysiological conditions. Methods: one hundred and twenty subjects (male…

Mandibular trauma treatment: a comparison of two protocols

2014

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the treatment of mandibular fractures treated in two European centre in 10 years. Study Design: This study is based on 2 systematic computer-assisted databases that have continuously recorded patients hospitalized with maxillofacial fractures in two centers in Turin, Italy and in Amsterdam, the Netherlands for ten years. Only patients who were admitted for mandibular fractures were considered for this study. Results: Between 2001 and 2010, a total of 752 patients were admitted at Turin hospital with a total of 1167 mandibular fractures not associated with further maxillofacial fractures, whereas 245 patients were admitted at Amsterdam hospit…

Validation of the Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ) in a sample of Spanish women

2014

Contains fulltext : 124145.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) The Dutch Eating Behavior Questionnaire (DEBQ) was developed to measure eating styles that may contribute to or attenuate the development of overweight. It comprises three scales that measure emotional, external and restrained eating. The main goal of this study is to evaluate the internal structure of the Spanish version of the DEBQ using updated psychometric techniques in a sample of women. A sample of 647 Spanish females answered the questionnaire. Both exploratory structural equation modeling and confirmatory factor analysis were used to evaluate the factor structure of the DEBQ. Reliabilities were estimated with Cron…

Examining patients' and other group members' agreement about their alliance to the group as a whole and changes in patient symptoms using response su…

2012

There is a lack of research examining patients' and other group members' agreement about their therapeutic alliance. In the present study, the person-group (P-G) fit model was adopted to predict that the group member symptom reduction will be greater when the group member's and the other group members' perceptions of their alliance to the group-as-a-whole fit and are high. In addition, the effect of disagreement between the group member and the other group members in their perceptions of the group alliance on the individual's outcome was investigated by using response surface analysis. Thirty-two patients from 5 long-term (> 1 year) psychodynamic group treatments were studied. Participants …

The important impact of dental care on haemostatic treatment burden in patients with mild haemophilia

2022

Background: Mild haemophilia (MH) is mainly characterized by haemorrhages secondary to surgery/invasive procedures or trauma. Haemostatic treatment in MH ranges from on demand to short prophylaxis according to the type of bleeding events and the basal clotting factor level. Oral surgery and dental extractions can represent a frequent haemostatic challenge in MH requiring appropriate treatment. However, only few studies on limited numbers of patients are available in the literature regarding the implications of dental management in patients with MH. Objectives: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the impact of dental care on the burden of haemostatic treatment in patients affected by MH…
