Recent studies have emphasised the importance of negative inotropic adipocyte-derived factors and their impact on cardiac contractile function. However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. To achieve a correct characterization, the volume of the right and left ventricle need to be segmented, which is a timeconsuming task. The aim of the present study was to assess whether different functional virgin olive oils (FVOOs) with varying phenolic compounds (PC) could protect the plasmatic fat-soluble vitamins, which in turn could improve the endothelial function. In order to select the optimal phenolic dose in the improvement of ischemic reactive hyperemia (IRH), a dose-response study (n = 12, healthy subjects) was performed and the enrichment of 500 mg PC/kg oil was selected. Abstract MDMA abuse continues being a serious problem in our society. Environmental factors, such as stress, increase the vulnerability of individuals to develop drug abuse and we have observed that exposure to social defeat (SD) stress alters the sensitivity of mice to the rewarding effects of MDMA in the conditioned place preference (CPP) paradigm. In the present study, we evaluated the role of the nitric oxide (NO) pathway in the effects of SD on the rewarding properties of MDMA. Objective We characterized the dynamics of eosinophils in blood and in the infarcted myocardium in patients and in a swine model of reperfused myocardial infarction (MI). The association of eosinophil dynamics with various outcomes was assessed. Methods Serial eosinophil count and pre-discharge cardiac magnetic resonance were carried out in a prospective series of 620 patients with a first ST-elevation MI. In a swine model of reperfused MI, the dynamics of circulating eosinophils and their presence in the infarcted myocardium were determined.
