A chi giovano le lingue segnate?
2020

If much attention has been gained in recent times by sign languages (in particular in the comparison on their nature and on their main peculiar properties also towards a recognition as proper languages, as well as on the challenges they pose to some traditional notions which have been employed so far to describe linguistic phenomena), their possible value from the perspective of inclusiveness deserves at least a brief reflection: the debate on this topic could be moved, from a theoretical point of view, within the search for vehicular languages that conformed humanity’s whole cultural life (in different ways and times), to discuss the possibility that a sign language co…
Las traducciones del Decameron de Boccaccio en España (1800-1940)
2008
This is a review of every translation of the Decameron (total, partial, adaptations) undertaken in Spain between 1800 and 1940. Many of the anthologies reviewed give priority to the novelle with greater erotic or anticlerical content, although this is often toned down by censure or self-censure. The result is rather poor: the Decameron has been published on very few occasions by a renowned editor or a skilled translator. Most of the translations are from the French, and many of these plagiarise each other. The real number of translations is therefore quite low (only one of the three complete translations is directly from the Italian). The language used in the translations is generally poor.…
Verbi locativi in italiano come varianti di verbi supporto
2021
Verso l’«inesplorato fondo dell’io».
Fisiologia - Psicologia…
An LSP Framework for Translation and Interpreting Pedagogy
2021
In this article, we present a pedagogical framework for foreign language teaching in undergraduate translation and interpreting programmes. Within Translation Studies, many scholars support the idea that TILLT (Translation- and Interpreting-oriented Language Learning and Teaching) should be framed within the teaching of Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP), as students will use language as a professional tool in their professional lives. Based on insights from LSP research and practice, the area of Translation Studies dedicated to the development of language competence and expertise research, we have selected and described the key aspects for the development of professional language use in…

Lexicographical treatment of some forestry terms in "De la siembra y plantíos de árboles" (1773) by Casimiro Gómez Ortega.
2020
The absence of comprehensive treatises on forestry in 18th …
Verb inflection in Ancient Greek and Sanskrit and auxiliation patterns in French and Italian. Forms, functions, system
2009
This paper deals with the complex interaction between form and function in the verb morphosyntax of four Indo-European languages (French, Italian, Ancient Greek and Sanskrit). Beyond the difference in form, auxiliation patterns in French and Italian, and verb inflections in Ancient Greek and Sanskrit correlate, thanks to the agreement for number and person, to the expression of the relationship with the Subject. The different auxiliation patterns (sum and habeo) and the different inflections (middle and active) correlate to different properties of the Subject. In particular, these forms depend on the syntactic opposition between middle and non-middle. The ways of this dependency are regulat…
Just a foreword? Malinowski, Geertz and the anthropologist as native
2006
Read through semiotic analysis, the narrative intrigue of (the evenemential and cognitive dimension of) the anthropologist’s work reveals the epistemological configuration encasing some central and interrelated questions in anthropology: the communication-interaction between anthropologists and other inter-actants, their invention-application of some metalanguages and the subsequent intercultural translations of concepts and processes. To explore this configuration, I compare a foreword written by Malinowski and another one written by Geertz. In these forewords, they resort to refined stories to frame complex argumentations. In Malinowski’s foreword, two superposing stories are told: (1) a …
