On a new proof of Moser's twist mapping theorem
1976
Based on a new idea of the author, a new proof of J. Moser's twist mapping theorem is presented.
Solving coupled Riccati matrix differential systems
1991
Abstract We start by noting that coupled Riccati matrix differential systems appearing in differential games may be considered as a single rectangular Riccati equation. An explicit solution of the coupled differential system in terms of a solution of the associated algebraic Riccati equation is given.
Computation of a few smallest eigenvalues of elliptic operators using fast elliptic solvers
2001
The computation of a few smallest eigenvalues of generalized algebraic eigenvalue problems is studied. The considered problems are obtained by discretizing self-adjoint second-order elliptic partial differential eigenvalue problems in two- or three-dimensional domains. The standard Lanczos algorithm with the complete orthogonalization is used to compute some eigenvalues of the inverted eigenvalue problem. Under suitable assumptions, the number of Lanczos iterations is shown to be independent of the problem size. The arising linear problems are solved using some standard fast elliptic solver. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the inverted problem is much easier to solve with the Lanczos…

This paper is dedicated to Karl Strambach on the occasion of his 80th birthday. Here we want to describe our work with Prof. Karl Strambach.
Educación Física bilingüe y pedagogía crítica: una aplicación basada en el Judo
2015
Considering the impact that the introduction of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is having in Europe, this paper presents a model of application for Physical Education in English. This model improves particularly the acquisition of a foreign language and proposes at the same time a comprehensive learning scenario based on the principles of the critical pedagogy. From the 4Cs framework of CLIL methodology («content», «communication», «culture» and «cognition») the paper offers an in-depth reflection on the possibilities of introducing the critical pedagogy approach to Physical Education, thus increasing its educational potential. First, we argue about the links between critica…
Gas-liquid chromatographic analyses
1983
Abstract The gas chromatography of mixtures of n -alkyl acetates (CH 3 COOR, R = C 1 —C 8 ) and methyl esters of aliphatic n -carboxylic acids (R′COOCH 3 , R′ = C 1 —C 8 ) and certain of their monochlorinated derivatives has been studied on Carbowax 20M and SE-30 glass capillary columns under the same operating conditions. The separation of the isomeric monochlorinated esters was complete on Carbowax 20M, whereas on SE-30 the peaks of 6- and 7-chlorooctyl acetates and methyl (ω − 1)- and (ω − 2)-chlorooctanoates and -nonanoates partly overlapped. The complete separation of the mixtures could not be achieved, however, on Carbowax 20M, in spite of the use of various operating conditions. The …
Influence of temperature on the synthesis of thiol-stabilized CdTe nanoparticles in aqueous solutions
2010
We have investigated the evolution of thiol-capped cadmium telluride nanocrystals prepared in aqueous solutions at low and room temperature followed by heating at 50–100 °C. The UV–visible absorption spectra, as well as transmission electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, and dynamic light scattering observations made it possible to reveal differences in size and structure originating from different heating temperatures. It was shown that minimization of the nucleation process temperature provided formation of larger nanoparticles than at higher temperatures.
Interaction between nitroxyl radicals and CdTe quantum dots: Determination of fluorescence-quenching mechanisms in aqueous solution
2019
Abstract The present work characterizes the optical properties of CdTe quantum dots (CdTe QDs) after interaction with nitroxyl radicals based on steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy studies. QDs of different sizes were exposed to 2 different nitroxyl radicals, i.e., TEMPO and 4-amino-TEMPO radicals. A clear dependence of dynamic and static Stern-Volmer constants values, KD and KS, respectively, was observed as a function of the size of QDs used, with a change from a mostly static mechanism (for smaller QD sizes) to a dynamic mechanism predominating as the nanoparticles increase in size. All observed effects are dependent on both the concentration of the radical and the s…
Analysis of an impedance function of zinc anodic dissolution
2004
Zinc anodic dissolution has been studied by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The kinetic study of the oxidation mechanism has allowed us to propose a theoretical impedance function for this system in deaerated sulphate medium. Relevant information on the faradaic process is provided by analysis of the theoretical impedance function. Kinetic parameters of this system can be calculated from the fitting of experimental data to the faradaic impedance function deduced theoretically. The physical measurements of this function are analysed by means of the dependence of simulated EIS spectra on kinetic parameters.
