Structure of Hybrid Materials Based on Halloysite Nanotubes Filled with Anionic Surfactants
2016
The structures of pristine halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) and ones functionalized by anionic surfactants (sodium dodecanoate and sodium dodecyl sulfate) were investigated by small angle neutron scattering (SANS). These experiments evidenced the structural organization of the surfactants adsorbed onto the HNT cavity and the importance of the surfactant headgroup. Contrast matching experiments were employed in order to mask the dominant scattering effect of the clay hollow nanotubes and to focus on the surfactant organization within the lumen. Further investigation on the mesoscopic structure of the investigated materials was carried out by electric birefringence (EBR), which allowed study of th…
Sol-gel assisted molten-salt synthesis of novel single phase Y3–2xCa2xTaxAl5−xO12:1%Eu garnet structure phosphors
2022
Strong absorption and emission are the key the features of any phosphor. The results obtained during this study demonstrate the difficulty of the incorporation of tantalum ions into the garnet structure and reveal that only the combination of Sol-Gel synthesis method together with Molten-Salt technique enable to obtain a single-phase cubic garnet structure. Note that, the Sol-Gel synthesis assisted by further processing by Molten-Salt technique can be a potentially new way of material preparation reported in literature. This work also proves that this combination of synthesis methods is much more capable of incorporating ions with large ionic radii into the garnet structure as compared to t…
Residual stresses and FCP prediction in FSW through a continuous FE model
2009
Abstract Residual stresses prediction is definitively a relevant and open issue in welding processes. In the last years, different numerical models are proposed by many researchers to predict the residual stress field in FSW butt joint. However, most of these works are based on properly tuned analytical models and neglect the effect of the mechanical action due to the presence of the tool pin. In the present paper, a continuous 3D FE model, which was previously developed by some of the authors, was used to simulate the FSW process of butt joints with a single block approach, and predict the residual stress field by considering both thermal and mechanical actions. Then, the residual stress e…
Angle resolved X-ray photoemission spectroscopy double layer model for in situ characterization of metal organic chemical vapour deposition nanometri…
2007
International audience; In situ Angle Resolved X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARXPS) characterizations of TiO2 thin films grown on silicon by Metal Organic Chemical Vapour Deposition were performed in order to get information on interfacial reactions at the first stages of the growth, one of the aims being to understand the influence of deposition conditions. Thickness measurements were also carried out from ARXPS analyses. As the real structure of the films was shown to be a double layer system such as TiO2/SiO2/Si, an ARXPS model of thickness and surface coverage determination was applied to each layer independently. However, the application of this model to very thin films underestima…
Changes in structure and conduction type upon addition of Ir to ZnO thin films
2017
Zn-Ir-O (Zn/Ir ≈ 1/1) thin films have been reported to be a potential p-type TCO material. It is, however, unknown whether it is possible to achieve p-type conductivity at low Ir content, and how the type and the magnitude of conductivity are affected by the film structure. To investigate the changes in properties taking place at low and moderate Ir content, this study focuses on the structure, electrical and optical properties of ZnO:Ir films with iridium concentration varying between 0.0 and 16.4 at.%. ZnO:Ir thin films were deposited on glass, Si, and Ti substrates by DC reactive magnetron co-sputtering at room temperature. Low Ir content (up to 5.1 at.%) films contain both a nano-crysta…
The effect of annealing temperature and time on synthesis of graphene thin films by rapid thermal annealing
2015
In this paper, we performed synthesis of graphene thin films by rapid thermal annealing (RTA) of thin nickel copper (Ni/Cu) layers deposited on spectroscopic graphite as a carbon source. Furthermore, we investigated the effect of annealing temperature and annealing time on formation and quality of synthesized graphene films. Raman spectroscopy study showed that annealing at lower temperatures results in formation of monolayer graphene films, while annealing at higher temperatures results in formation of multilayer graphene films. We used Raman mapping to determine the distribution of graphene sheets. Surface morphology of graphene thin films was investigated by atomic force microscopy and s…
Prediction of phase transformation of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy during hot-forging processes using a numerical model
2013
In this article numerical model for prediction of phase evolution of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy was presented. In particular, attention was focused on alpha to beta and beta to alpha+beta phase transformations. The analysis was conducted using a commercial implicit finite element method code, considering the data and the parameters of a real case study to check the quality of the numerical model. The alpha to beta transformation was developed using the simplified form of the Avrami model and the beta to alpha+beta transformation was controlled through the generalized Avrami model. The model so-thought has been used to conduct a 2D simulation of a forging process. A comparison between the num…

Very high titanium content mesoporous silicas
2001
Titanium content in mesoporous titanosilicate catalysts has been modulated up to a minimum Si/Ti value of 1.9 by using complexing agents able to coordinate both Si and Ti atoms and harmonize the reactivity of the resulting precursors avoiding subsequent phase segregation and leading to chemically very homogeneous materials.
