The main compounds identified were 3-chloro-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (3-chloro-p-anisaldehyde), 3-chloro-4-methoxybenzyl alcohol (3-chloro-p-anisyl alcohol), 3,5-dichloro-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (3,5-dichloro-p-anisaldehyde), and 3,5-dichloro, 4-methoxybenzyl alcohol (3,5-dichloro-p-anisyl alcohol).p-Anisaldehyde, veratraldehyde and the corresponding alcohols,p-anisyl alcohol and veratryl alcohol were produced simultaneously. Cytotoxic Activity of Some Natural and Synthetic ent-Kauranes

Atractyligenin (1) and several synthetic derivatives were tested and found to be active against tumor cell replication. Compound 1 was readily converted to the 2,15-diketo (3) or 15-keto (4) derivatives, which contain an alpha,beta-unsaturated ketone. Compounds 3 and 4 showed significant cytotoxic activity against all six tested cancer cell lines and were most potent against 1A9 ovarian cancer cells with EC50 values of 0.2 and 0.3 microM, respectively. These two 1-analogues are promising lead compounds for further investigation.

Analysis of nonlinear coupling on the behavior of the sine-Gordon and Klein-Gordon models in bandwidth and forbidden bands

In this thesis, we analyze the conditions of existence of the phenomenon of nonlinear supratransmission in two different models: a modified fifth-order Klein-Gordon system and a modified sine-Gordon system. The modified models considered here are those with mixed coupling, the pure linear coupling being associated with a nonlinear coupling. In particular, we quantify numerically the influence of the non-linear coupling coefficient on the threshold amplitude which triggers the phenomenon of non-linear supratransmission. Tadpoles of Amietia ruwenzorica (Pyxicephalidae, Cacosterninae) were collected in the Ruwenzori Mountains, Uganda(identified by DNA barcoding). The ventrally directed enlarged oral disc with a high number of labial tooth rows (LTRF9(4)/9(1)) and the narrow tail with robust caudal musculature characterise them as stream-dwellers. We name this mor-photype the 'common or standard type of stream-adaptation', because special additional adhesive organs are missing in A.ruwenzorica. The uniserially arranged oral teeth of the spoon-shaped type with 16 to 18 cusps per tooth are known fromother anuran larvae, especially from pyxicephalids. Airway management involves far more than just proficiency with tracheal intubation techniques. There are several infraglottic techniques available and the method chosen will depend on the accessibility of equipment, the level of training and expertise, and the patient's specific injury or disease. Endotracheal intubation is most commonly performed by direct laryngoscopy. Several modifications of laryngoscope blades and a variety of adjuncts such as bougies may help to accomplish even a difficult airway. En este trabajo analizamos cuatro prólogos de las tragedias conservadas de Sófocles (Áyax, Antígona, Edipo Rey y Edipo en Colono) y ponemos de manifiesto algunos rasgos de técnica teatral que el autor emplea en ellos. Estos elementos, que en algunos casos podríamos llamar “paradójicos”, corroboran la importancia del prólogo como una parte inicial de la pieza que tiene como función principal exponer los hechos con los que comienza la acción ante unos espectadores que precisan de tal información. Gracias al estudio de estos elementos, se pueden clasificar paradigmas regulares en la composición de estos cuatro prólogos, que presentan elementos comunes pero variables en función de cada tragedia…
