Today’s appearance of the church of Maria Santissima la Croce in Regalbuto is the result of interventions carried out during the last 300 years. The 19th century’s plaster decorations of the interiors hide the original structure of the 16th-century church. One of the “antiquities remainings” survived on the red carved stone arch upon the main apse. The study reveals that the model of the façade, completed in 1774, is the arch of Triumph for Porta dei Greci in Palermo, designed in 1735 by Nicolò Palma and known today thanks to an engraving by Antonino Bova. In the past centuries, the plain surrounding the city of Palermo saw the construction of tens of suburban manor houses, called villas, which were referred to as “places of delight” for the amenities they offered during the good season. These architectural machines were built by aristocrats to make living in the countryside more pleasant and to exhibit their families’ richness and power. Presently, the European Union strategies aim at strengthening the rural areas that are characterized by a deep depopulation, people aging, and a weak employment market. In these "marginalized" areas, the urban regeneration process may be assisted by the creation of smart villages, realities that will cooperate and create innovative small towns. La sperimentazione esposta nella presente pubblicazione tratta dell’impiego di fibre di PET, ricavate dal semplice taglio di contenitori per bevande secondo un procedimento brevettato, nel rinforzo di calcestruzzi destinati anche a impieghi strutturali. Descrive le caratteristiche geometriche delle fibre e ne indaga la durabilità in condizioni severe che potrebbero presentarsi in un’applicazione pratica quale una pavimentazione esterna. A tal fine campioni costituiti da gruppi di fibre sono stati immersi per tredici giorni a 65°C in soluzioni a differente concentrazione di NaOH (0,103 M e 1,75 M). In particolare la soluzione a concentrazione 0,103 M di NaOH (pH=13) simula la basicità della …
