Some previous studies have suggested that home pesticide exposure before birth and during a child's early years may increase the risk of childhood leukemia. To further investigate this, we pooled individual level data from 12 case-control studies in the Childhood Leukemia International Consortium. Exposure data were harmonized into compatible formats. Pooled analyses were undertaken using multivariable unconditional logistic regression. Morphological, electrical and optical properties of organic light-emitting diodes with a LiF/Al cathode and an Al-hydroxyquinoline/diamine junction

Abstract We report the results of the morphological, electrical and optical characterisation of double-layer Alq3-based organic emitting diodes with a lithium fluoride (LiF)/Al cathode. A detailed electron microscopy investigation of their cross-section shows the presence of LiF isolated grains underneath the Al film. Due to the introduction of the LiF layer, luminance was larger than 30,000 cd/m2 at a bias voltage VB=25 V with a maximum external luminous efficiency as large as 46 lm/W at VB=20 V. Abstract Bipolar membranes are layered structures composed of one cation-and one anion-exchange membrane joined together in series. The current—voltage curves of two recently developed bipolar membranes have been analysed theoretically and experimentally under both forward and reverse bias conditions. Hymenopteran parasitoids can utilize substrate-borne semiochemicals released by conspecifics or by their hosts, increasing the likelihood of successful mating and host location. According to the literature, two substrate-borne chemo-orientation patterns can occur: (1) biased random searching, a non-directional reaction toward the chemicals (kinesis), and (2) trailfollowing searching, a directional response toward the source emitting the chemical compounds (taxis). Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) detects white matter damage in neuro-psychiatric disorders, but data on reliability of DTI measures across more than two scanners are still missing. In this study we assessed multicenter reproducibility of DTI acquisitions based on a physical phantom as well as brain scans across 16 scanners. Why do people who know they are biased tend to engage in more inappropriate behavior? A total of 340 under- graduate students participated in the study. A Criterion for Attaining the Welch Bounds with Applications for Mutually Unbiased Bases

The paper gives a short introduction to mutually unbiased bases and the Welch bounds and demonstrates that the latter is a good technical tool to explore the former. In particular, a criterion for a system of vectors to satisfy the Welch bounds with equality is given and applied for the case of MUBs. This yields a necessary and sufficient condition on a set of orthonormal bases to form a complete system of MUBs. This condition takes an especially elegant form in the case of homogeneous systems of MUBs. We express some known constructions of MUBs in this form.
