Large numbers of cold positronium atoms created in laser-selected Rydberg states using resonant charge exchange

Lasers are used to control the production of highly excited positronium atoms (Ps*). The laser light excites Cs atoms to Rydberg states that have a large cross section for resonant charge-exchange collisions with cold trapped positrons. For each trial with 30 million trapped positrons, more than 700 000 of the created Ps* have trajectories near the axis of the apparatus, and are detected using Stark ionization. This number of Ps* is 500 times higher than realized in an earlier proof-of-principle demonstration (2004 Phys. Lett. B 597 257). Objective Self-esteem is a core aspect of eating disorder symptomatology. This study aims to examine whether method effects associated with negatively worded items of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) may interact the negative self-evaluations experienced by patients with obesity and binge eating disorder (BED). We also examined whether negatively worded items were associated with psychological distress and eating symptoms. The aim of this study was to evaluate the metabolic effects of cabergoline (CAB) treatment in patients with newly diagnosed prolactinoma in relation to disease control and CAB dosage. Psychometric characteristics in normal and social phobic samples for a Spanish version of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale.

The present paper had three purposes: (a) presenting normative data for the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale in a Spanish sample, (b) studying whether there are significant sex or age differences in self-esteem, and (c) studying whether there are significant differences between a Control group with no psychological diagnosis and a group of social phobics. Of the total sample of 266 persons, 214 belonged to the Control group and 52 to the Social Phobic group. Item-total score correlations and alpha reliabilities supported the internal consistency of the scale. There were statistically significant differences between the Control and Social Phobic groups, but not by sex or age.

Eye Movement Involvement in Parry-Romberg Syndrome: A Clinicopathologic Case Report

We report the case of a 38-year-old woman who developed a progressive bilateral disease in which the eye motility disorder-diplopia-is the outstanding feature over a period of 12 years. The muscle biopsy of the medial rectus muscle did not show any trace of striated muscle. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first pathological report in an affected extraocular muscle of a patient with Parry-Romberg syndrome (PRS). Previous rare reports of diplopia in PRS have been attributed to enophthalmos, progressive atrophy of the orbit, ocular motor nerve dysfunction, or mechanical restrictions.
