Measurement of the Ratio of Branching FractionsB(B¯0→D*+τ−ν¯τ)/B(B¯0→D*+μ−ν¯μ)
2015
The branching fraction ratio R(D-*) = B((B) over bar (0) -> D-*(+)tau(-)(nu) over bar (tau))/B((B) over bar (0) -> D-*(+)mu(-)(nu) over bar (mu)) is measured using a sample of proton-proton collision data corresponding to 3.0 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity recorded by the LHCb experiment during 2011 and 2012. The tau lepton is identified in the decay mode tau(-) -> mu(-)(nu) over bar (mu)nu(tau). The semitauonic decay is sensitive to contributions from non-standard-model particles that preferentially couple to the third generation of fermions, in particular, Higgs-like charged scalars. A multidimensional fit to kinematic distributions of the candidate (B) over bar (0) decays gives R(D-*) =…
Search for pair production of Higgsinos in final states with at least three b -tagged jets in s=13 TeV pp collisions using the ATLAS detector
2018
A search for pair production of the supersymmetric partners of the Higgs boson (higgsinos H˜) in gauge-mediated scenarios is reported. Each higgsino is assumed to decay to a Higgs boson and a gravitino. Two complementary analyses, targeting high- and low-mass signals, are performed to maximize sensitivity. The two analyses utilize LHC pp collision data at a center-of-mass energy s=13 TeV, the former with an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb-1 and the latter with 24.3 fb-1, collected with the ATLAS detector in 2015 and 2016. The search is performed in events containing missing transverse momentum and several energetic jets, at least three of which must be identified as b-quark jets. No sig…
Global fits in the Georgi-Machacek model
2019
Off the beaten track of scalar singlet and doublet extensions of the Standard Model, triplets combine an interesting LHC phenomenology with an explanation for neutrino masses. The Georgi-Machacek model falls into this category, but it has never been fully explored in a global fit. We use the {\texttt{HEPfit}} package to combine recent experimental Higgs data with theoretical constraints and obtain strong limits on the mixing angles and mass differences between the heavy new scalars as well as their decay widths. We also find that the current signal strength measurements allow for a Higgs to vector boson coupling with an opposite sign to the Standard Model, but this possibility can be ruled …
Search for the Production of a Long-Lived Neutral Particle Decaying within the ATLAS Hadronic Calorimeter in Association with a Z Boson from pp Colli…
2019
This Letter presents a search for the production of a long-lived neutral particle (Zd) decaying within the ATLAS hadronic calorimeter, in association with a standard model (SM) Z boson produced via an intermediate scalar boson, where Z→+ (=e, μ). The data used were collected by the ATLAS detector during 2015 and 2016 pp collisions with a center-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 36.1±0.8 fb-1. No significant excess of events is observed above the expected background. Limits on the production cross section of the scalar boson times its decay branching fraction into the long-lived neutral particle are derived as a function of …
LHC as an Axion Factory: Probing an Axion Explanation for (g−2)μ with Exotic Higgs Decays
2017
We argue that a large region of so-far unconstrained parameter space for axionlike particles (ALPs), where their couplings to the standard model are of order (0.01-1) TeV^{-1}, can be explored by searches for the exotic Higgs decays h→Za and h→aa in run 2 of the LHC. Almost the complete region in which ALPs can explain the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon can be probed by searches for these decays with subsequent decay a→γγ, even if the relevant couplings are loop suppressed and the a→γγ branching ratio is less than 1.
Search for Higgs andZBoson Decays toJ/ψγandϒ(nS)γwith the ATLAS Detector
2015
A search for the decays of the Higgs and Z bosons to J/psi gamma and Upsilon(nS)gamma (n = 1,2,3) is performed with pp collision data samples corresponding to integrated luminosities of up to 20.3 fb(-1) collected at root s = 8 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. No significant excess of events is observed above expected backgrounds and 95% C.L. upper limits are placed on the branching fractions. In the J/psi gamma final state the limits are 1.5 x 10(-3) and 2.6 x 10(-6) for the Higgs and Z boson decays, respectively, while in the Upsilon(1S, 2S, 3S)gamma. final states the limits are (1.3, 1.9, 1.3) x 10(-3) and (3.4, 6.5, 5.4) x 10(-6), respectively.
Measurement of the branching ratio of the double Dalitz decayK L →e+e−e+e− and the CP parity of theK L -meson
2016
Data from the NA31 experiment at CERN have been used to measure the branching ratio of the double Dalitz decay of the long-lived neutral kaon. Eight events have been found with negligible background. The measured distribution of the angle between the planes of the two e+e--pairs favours a CP=-1 state for the long-lived neutral kaon. © 1995 Springer-Verlag.
Measurement of various decay modes of charmed particlesD 0,D +,D s + andΛ s c
1990
In the CERN NA 32 experiment a high-resolution silicon vertex detector and a purely topological approach have been used to investigate various decays of charmed particles. We observe ∼620 fully reconstructed decays ofD0 in 12 channels and determine the branching ratios. For fourD0 decay modes involving a single (unseen) π0 the small and narrowD*+−D0 mass difference is used to measure their branching ratios. We also observe ∼280 fully reconstructedD+ decays in 10 channels, ∼90Ds+ decays in 11 channels as well as 160Λsc and 18 decay channels ofD+. For theDs+, we measure the branching fractions within a subset of 16 three- and five-prong decay channels. For theΛsc, we determine the branching f…
Search for B+→K+νν¯ Decays Using an Inclusive Tagging Method at Belle II
2021
A search for the flavor-changing neutral-current decay B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] is performed at the Belle II experiment at the SuperKEKB asymmetric energy electron-positron collider. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 63 fb^{-1} collected at the ϒ(4S) resonance and a sample of 9 fb^{-1} collected at an energy 60 MeV below the resonance. Because the measurable decay signature involves only a single charged kaon, a novel measurement approach is used that exploits not only the properties of the B^{+}→K^{+}νν[over ¯] decay, but also the inclusive properties of the other B meson in the ϒ(4S)→BB[over ¯] event, to suppress the background from other B meson decays and light-qua…
Search for the Higgs Boson inH→WW(*)Decays inpp¯Collisions ats=1.96 TeV
2006
We present a search for the standard model Higgs boson in H --> WW(*) decays with e+e-, e+/-mu-/+, and mu+mu- final states in pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of square root of s = 1.96 TeV. The data, collected from April 2002 to June 2004 with the D0 detector, correspond to an integrated luminosity of 300-325 pb(-1), depending on the final state. The number of events observed is consistent with the expectation from backgrounds. Limits from the combination of all three channels on the Higgs boson production cross section times branching ratio sigma x BR(H --> WW(*) are presented.
