Abstract Background BRAF/MEK inhibitor combinations are established treatments for BRAF V600–mutant melanoma based on demonstrated benefits on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). Prognosis and cure of long-term cancer survivors: A population-based estimation.

Background: Increasing evidence of cure for some neoplasms has emerged in recent years. The study aimed to estimate population-based indicators of cancer cure. Methods: Information on more than half a million cancer patients aged 15-74 years collected by population-based Italian cancer registries and mixture cure models were used to estimate the life expectancy of fatal tumors (LEFT), proportions of patients with similar death rates of the general population (cure fraction), and time to reach 5-year conditional relative survival (CRS) >90% or 95% (time to cure). Comprehensive cross-platform comparison of methods for non-invasive EGFR mutation testing : results of the RING observational trial

Plasma samples from 72 EGFR‐mutant advanced NSCLC patients, collected upon progression to first‐line TKI, were analyzed by seven methodologies (two NGS‐based methods, three high‐sensitivity PCR‐based platforms, and two FDA‐approved methods). Our study demonstrates a good to excellent agreement between methodologies and supports the use of liquid biopsies for therapy decision‐making.

Clinical and genetic risk factors define two risk groups of extracranial malignant rhabdoid tumours (eMRT/RTK)

Abstract Introduction Extracranial rhabdoid tumours are rare, highly aggressive malignancies primarily affecting young children. The EU-RHAB registry was initiated in 2009 to prospectively collect data of rhabdoid tumour patients treated according to the EU-RHAB therapeutic framework. Methods We evaluated 100 patients recruited within EU-RHAB (2009–2018). Tumours and matching blood samples were examined for SMARCB1 mutations by sequencing and cytogenetics. Results A total of 70 patients presented with extracranial, extrarenal tumours (eMRT) and 30 with renal rhabdoid tumours (RTK). Nine patients demonstrated synchronous tumours. Purpose To test the efficacy of adding cisplatin to first-line treatment for elderly patients with advanced non–small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) within a combined analysis of two parallel phase III trials, MILES-3 and MILES-4. Patients and Methods Patients with advanced NSCLC who were older than age 70 years with Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status 0 to 1 were randomly assigned to gemcitabine or pemetrexed, without or with cisplatin.
