Throughout the present research I intend to demonstrate the powerful link between the vocal practice in accompanied monody and the way Early Italian violin music ought to be interpreted. Due to the scarce amount of articulation and ornamentation in this music, I consider that historical criteria should be found in order to back up the subjective choices in its performance. According to this, I focus on reviewing sources that describe the vocal practice around 1600, but also contemporary sources in which we can find instructions addressed to bow instruments. This dissertation deals with the iconography of the Zodiac between Antiquity and Middle Age, in particular in churches between the XIth and the XIIIth century. The heart of the dissertation is the analysis of a corpus of 260 items. These items concern the figuration of the signs of the Zodiac and the Labors of the months, whether or not combinated, within ecclesial ornamentation between the XIth and the XIIIth century. This period corresponds to the “renaissance” and to the growth of the figuration of the Zodiac in this context. The study is divided into three parts. This contribution illustrates the history of the vineyard in Champagne in interaction with the invention of sparkling wines in an area of ancient viticulture. The socio-geographical configuration of this vineyard progressively changed, associating crises and expansions, at the end of which emerges in the twentieth century a vineyard very different from that existing in the early eighteenth century, when the sparkling wine was invented in the Champagne region.
