This research aims to analyze recruitment by quintas, Spanish word for recruitment levies by lot, in the city of Valencia and the townships included in its jurisdictional area. The analyzed period began in 1717 with the first levie decreted by king Philip V once the War of Spanish Succession was over. Applied this levie in the kingdom of Valencia, this was the first application of levies by lot. The closing year for the reported period up to 1762, whith the last levy made by king Charles III before the establishment of the annual periodicity for the recruitment process. Summary Background The involvement of Jewish doctors and scientists in the development of health resorts in eastern Galicia (part of the Austrian monarchy after 1772, and since 1918 as part of independent Poland, now part of Ukraine) is unquestionable; however, awareness of this fact is not that common. Meanwhile, also due to their work and activity, small borderland resorts became important medical, cultural and social centers of the region. Da un manoscritto databile intorno al 1550 e un saggio a stampa sulle feste reali celebrate a Palermo, pubblicato nel 1703, sappiamo dell'esistenza di un labirinto nel giardino dell'aristocratico Giovan Tomaso Moncada, costruito negli anni settanta o negli anni ottanta del XV secolo nella campagna vicino Palermo. Si tratta della scena in cui ebbe luogo un ricco banchetto offerto al Viceré Ferdinando de Acuña.
