Mit einer enzymatischen und damit spezifischen Bestimmung des Acetaldehyd in Korperflussigkeiten konnte folgendes festgestellt werden. 1. Im Blutserum von Ratten konnte in der Mehrzahl der Falle keine Acetaldehydkonzentration bestimmt werden, im Einzelfall jedoch bis zu 0,09 mg- %. Die bisher in der Literatur angegebenen Normwerte hinsichtlich des Acetaldehydgehaltes, die aber mit relativ unspezifischen Methoden bestimmt worden waren, liesen sich an Ratten nicht bestatigen. 2. Die bisher mitgeteilten Konzentrationen an Acetaldehyd nach Verabreichung einer Sattigungsdosis von Antabus und Alkohol liegen uber 2 mg- %. Transamidation reactions of 2-(2-sulfonylguanidino)acetamides

Abstract The reactivity of a series of sulfonylguanidinoacetamides 2A–E towards amines is reported. Guanidinoacetamides 2A–C, containing the arylsulfonylimino moiety, undergo a facile transamidation to give substituted carboxamides 4A–C, through the imidazolidinone intermediate 3. Acetamide 2D, having a methanesulfonylimino substituent, affords the imidazolidinone 3D and no transamidated carboxamides 4 are detected. In the case of guanidinoacetamide 2E, with a p-nitrobenzenesulfonylimino substituent, a Smiles rearrangement was observed.
Randomised controlled study with cyproterone acetate (100 mg/die) versus Pygeum africanum (200 mg/die) in benign prostatic hypertrophy

A multi-centre comparative study was carried out on 143 patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy and reduced or no sexual activity. 74 patients were treated with a low dose of CPA (100 mg a day) and 69 with PYG (200 mg a day), administered orally and assigned randomly. The patients were evaluated at 4,12 and 24 weeks. Results showed a significant statistical difference in favour of the CPA treatment for almost all parameters (flow, post-micturitional residue, symptomatological score). There was a decrease in prostate volume, equal to 19.3% compared to the initial values, only in those patients treated with CPA who completed the treatment. International audience; The synthesis of functionalized porphyrins and their conjugates from meso-tetraarylporphyrins through the acylation and the oxidation of beta-aminoporphyrins was investigated. 2,3-Dioxochlorins were prepared by the oxidation of a variety of beta-aminoporphyrins and subsequently used in a condensation reaction with functionalized aromatic aldehydes and ammonium acetate to form beta-functionalized porphyrins bearing a fused imidazole ring. Under optimized experimental conditions both reactions tolerate various functional groups and afford the products in an appropriate overall yield.
