Bone Regeneration and Soft Tissue Enhancement Around Zygomatic Implants: Retrospective Case Series
2020
Purpose: To present a case series of zygomatic implants combined with bone regeneration and soft tissue enhancement techniques to reduce the risk of biological delayed complications such as maxillary sinusitis and soft tissue recession. Materials and methods: Zygomatic implants placed simultaneously with different bone regeneration techniques (buccal, palatal and buccal-palatal bone regeneration) and soft tissue enhancement techniques (pediculate and free connective tissue graft) were followed for at least 12 months. The following information was collected: patient age and sex, number of zygomatic implants, zygomatic implant success rate, zygomatic implant position according to classificati…
Considerations on sand control in natural gas wells
2017
Mechanism of sand production in gas wells is complex and influenced by every operation performed into the well, starting from the opening of the production interval by drilling, and continuing with completion and putting into production as well as with the exploitation regime. Sand production along with fluids from gas reservoirs creates a series of potentially dangerous and costly problems. For selecting the most appropriate methods of sand-control all the data and information related to properties of reservoir rock, the history of sand production, the potential well flow rates as well as HSE and costs need to be evaluated. The conclusion of the authors is that the best results in sand con…
Casing while Drilling – a Viable Alternative to Conventional Drilling
2019
Mankind’s increased requirement for and dependence on energy resources, including the resources resulting from discovery and development of new hydrocarbon commercial reservoirs involves the use of new technologies such as optimization of the drilling process by reducing the non-productive time, the costs and the risks. Casing while drilling involves elimination of classical drilling string by using the casing string both for transmission to the bit of the mechanical energy and for circulation of drilling fluid into the well. Although there is a number of technical or perception barriers related to the use of casing drilling, the important benefits of this technology related to reduced dril…
High-repetition-rate source delivering optical pulse trains with a controllable level of amplitude and temporal jitters
2020
International audience; We theoretically propose and numerically validate an all-optical scheme to generate optical pulse trains with varying peak-powers and durations. A shaping of the spectral phase thanks to discrete /2 phase shifts enables an efficient phase-to-intensity conversion of a temporal phase modulation based on a two-tone sinusoidal beating. Experiments carried out at telecommunication wavelengths and at a repetition rate of 10 GHz confirm the ability of our approach to efficiently generate a train made of pulses with properties that vary from pulse-to-pulse. The levels of jitters can be accurately controlled.
Embedding bullying related learning in the curriculum for initial teacher education: a possible approach
2021
Teachers are key players in preventing and combating the phenomenon of bullying in schools. To actively and constructively assume this role, they need bullying training during their initial and continuous teacher education. This study explores opportunities to engage pre-service teachers in learning about school bullying within the curriculum for initial teacher education in Romania. More competencies were identified as necessary for future teachers for being able to manage the problems related to bullying in school. Suggestions for bullying-related learning activities within the curriculum of four psycho-pedagogical disciplines are provided from the perspective of an infusion approach. Thi…
Optical, Structural and Paramagnetic Properties of Eu-Doped Ternary Sulfides ALnS2 (A = Na, K, Rb; Ln = La, Gd, Lu, Y)
2015
Eu-doped ternary sulfides of general formula ALnS2 (A = Na, K, Rb; Ln = La, Gd, Lu, Y) are presented as a novel interesting material family which may find usage as X-ray phosphors or solid state white light emitting diode (LED) lighting. Samples were synthesized in the form of transparent crystalline hexagonal platelets by chemical reaction under the flow of hydrogen sulfide. Their physical properties were investigated by means of X-ray diffraction, time-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance, and X-ray excited fluorescence. Corresponding characteristics, including absorption, radioluminescence, photoluminescence excitation and emission spectra, and decay k…
Visible Photoluminescence of Variable-Length Zinc Oxide Nanorods Embedded in Porous Anodic Alumina Template for Biosensor Applications
2021
Zinc oxide (ZnO) and porous anodic aluminum oxide (PAAO) are technologically important materials, rich with features that are of interest in optical applications, for example, in light-emitting and sensing devices. Here, we present synthesis method of aligned ZnO nanorods (NR) with 40 nm diameter and variable length in 150 to 500 nm range obtained by atomic layer deposition (ALD) of ZnO in pores of continuously variable thickness PAAO. The relative intensity of yellow (1.99 eV), green (2.35 eV), and blue (2.82 eV) photoluminescence (PL) components originating from the different types of defects, varied with non-monotonic dependency on the composite film thickness with a Fabry–Pérot like mod…
The potential of roofs in city centers to be used for photovoltaic micro-installations
2019
Abstract Currently in Poland, power engineering based on hard coal and lignite plays the dominant role. This significantly impedes the attainment of 15% share of energy produced from renewable sources by 2020 and has a negative impact on air quality in Poland. A solution to this unfavourable situation may be to develop renewable dispersed energy with particular emphasis on installations using photovoltaic. Strongly urbanized areas have high electricity demand, and at the same time low availability of areas where it is possible to locate renewable energy sources. In this study, the possibility of using roofs of buildings in city centres for the purpose of photovoltaic micro-installation was …
Recent advances in intelligent-based structural health monitoring of civil structures
2018
This survey paper deals with the structural health monitoring systems on the basis of methodologies involving intelligent techniques. The intelligent techniques are the most popular tools for damage identification in terms of high accuracy, reliable nature and the involvement of low cost. In this critical survey, a thorough analysis of various intelligent techniques is carried out considering the cases involved in civil structures. The importance and utilization of various intelligent tools to be mention as the concept of fuzzy logic, the technique of genetic algorithm, the methodology of neural network techniques, as well as the approaches of hybrid methods for the monitoring of the struct…
Nonlinear rocking of rigid blocks on flexible foundation: Analysis and experiments
2017
Abstract Primarily, two models are commonly used to describe rocking of rigid bodies; the Housner model, and the Winkler foundation model. The first deals with the motion of a rigid block rocking about its base corners on a rigid foundation. The second deals with the motion of a rigid block rocking and bouncing on a flexible foundation of distributed linear springs and dashpots (Winkler foundation). These models are two-dimensional and can capture some of the features of the physics of the problem. Clearly, there are additional aspects of the problem which may be captured by an enhanced nonlinear model for the base-foundation interaction. In this regard, what it is adopted in this paper is …
