Flow duration curve (FDC) represents a comprehensive signature of temporal runoff variability often used to synthesize catchment rainfall-runoff responses. A new model, the ModABa (MODel for Annual flow duration curves assessment in ephemeral small BAsins), is here introduced. It can be thought as a wide mosaic whose tesserae are frameworks, models or conceptual schemes separately developed in different studies and harmoniously interconnected with the final aim of reproducing the annual FDC in intermittent small catchments. Activation of self-renewal and meiotic genes in tumour cell lines resistant to genotoxic treatment

Pašatjaunošanās un meijotisko gēnu aktivācija pēc genotoksiskas apstrādes rezistentās audzēju šūnu līnijās Šajā darbā tika pētīta iespējamā saistība starp poliploīdijas un dzimumšūnu līnijai raksturīgo gēnu indukciju pēc pretvēža apstrādes atkarībā no TP53 statusa un audzēju šūnu rezistence pret DNS bojājumu. Pirmo reizi tika atrasta un citoloģiski raksturota galveno cilmestības transkripcijas faktoru OCT4, NANOG un SOX2 ekspresijas aktivācija, kas izraisīta pārkāpjot tetraploīdo barjeru pēc DNS bojājuma TP53 mutantās, bet ne funkcionālās audzēja šūnas, kā arī galvenā mejotiskā kohezīna REC8 ekspresija somatisko audzēja šūnu līnijās, kas apstrādātas ar jonizējošo starojumu vai topoizomeraze…

Promocijas darbā ir analizēti atmosfēras piesārņojuma līmeņi Rīgā, novērtējot atsevišķu un kompleksu meteoroloģisko parametru ietekmi. Darbā apkopota un kompleksi analizēta atmosfēras piesārņojuma līmeņa veidošanās rosinošo faktoru nozīme; veikta faktoru analīze Rīgas pilsētai ar tālāku mērķi rezultātus izmantot prognostiska modeļa izstrādē; prognostiskie modeļi tiek pārbaudīti eksperimentāli, izstrādājot īstermiņa un ilgtermiņa atmosfēras piesārņojuma līmeņa prognozes atbilstoši meteoroloģisko apstākļu prognozēm un piesārņojuma uzkrāšanās procesiem. Visitor Regulations vs Rules for visiting Morizsala

Regulations issued by the Riga Society of Naturalists (Naturforscher-Verein zu Rīga; 1845 – 1939) for visitors to Moricsala. The rules were created by approving the first nature protected area in Latvia. The material is stored in the Botany and Mycology collections of the Museum of the University of Latvia.

In 1895, the oldest Latvian Society of Naturalists, the Riga Society of Naturalists (1845 – 1939), celebrated its 50th anniversary. The celebrations also included a social event with a feast, in memory of which a humorous menu based on geological eras was issued. The article provides an insight into both the menu and the society's anniversary celebrations.
