Propane-1,3-diammonium molybdate

The reaction between equimolar amounts of propane-1,3-diamine and molybdenum trioxide in water led to the formation of single crystals of the title salt, (C3H12N2)[MoO4]. The asymmetric unit is comprised of one propane-1,3-diammonium cation and one molybdate anion. The latter is isolated in the structure and has a slightly distorted tetrahedral configuration. An extensive network of N—H...O hydrogen bonds connects anions and cations, giving rise to a compact three-dimensional packing.
Iodine containing species in the remote marine boundary layer: A link to oceanic phytoplankton

[1] Iodine containing species have been measured in the particle phase (PM2.5) and the gas phase during a ship campaign between January and February 2007 in the South Atlantic marine boundary layer (MBL). Methyl iodide (CH3I) in the gas phase and soluble iodine species, i.e. iodide, iodate and an unidentified organic iodine species (UOI), in PM2.5 were measured. Temporal variations of gaseous and particulate iodine species were investigated. The exposure of the sampled air masses to phytoplankton along the back-trajectories was studied using a lagrangian transport model and satellite observations of oceanic chlorophyll-a concentration. Depressed Prostaglandin Release from Peritoneal Cells Induced by a T Cell Adjuvant, Lentinan

Abstract PGE and PGF release from peritoneal exudate cells was studied in mice after injection with two s (1–3) glucans, the antitumor active lentinan and the inactive pachyman. 4 days after injection of both polysaccharides, the spontaneous and phagocytosis-induced PGE and PGF release was markedly suppressed. However, only the immunopotentiator lentinan induced peritoneal exudate cells which exhibited a longer lasting diminished PG release. The data suggest that the T cell adjuvant lentinan may potentiate cellular immune responses by reducing synthesis of immune suppressive prostaglandins from peritoneal exudate cells.

We present a cost- and time-efficient method for the controlled preparation of single phase La(IO3)3 nanoparticles via a simple soft-chemical route which takes a matter of hours, thereby providing an alternative to the common hydrothermal method which takes days. Competitive elections are the basis of democracy; without them there is no freedom of choice. Elections without competition are associated with the façade nature of elections in undemocratic systems. There are, however, exceptions to the belief that in a democratic system every election must be competitive. We can also observe them in Poland, particularly in small communes with up to 20,000 inhabitants. They take two forms: non-competitive elections of commune leaders and councillors. A primer on statistically validated networks

In this contribution we discuss some approaches of network analysis providing information about single links or single nodes with respect to a null hypothesis taking into account the heterogeneity of the system empirically observed. With this approach, a selection of nodes and links is feasible when the null hypothesis is statistically rejected. We focus our discussion on approaches using i) the so-called disparity filter and ii) statistically validated network in bipartite networks. For both methods we discuss the importance of using multiple hypothesis test correction. Specific applications of statistically validated networks are discussed.
