PurposeThe negative stereotypes concerning late-career workers are found to prevail and lead to negative circulation of narratives and actions between individuals and societies. Influence of formalin fixation on the biomechanical properties of human diaphyseal bone.

Owing to the lack of fresh human bones, formalin-fixed specimens are frequently used in biomechanical testing. However, formalin fixation is assumed to affect the biomechanical properties of bone. The aim of this study was to compare axial and torsional stiffness and bone mineral density in fresh and embalmed human bones. The subtrochanteric regions of 12 pairs of fresh human femora were randomised into two groups for paired comparison. After bone mineral density measurement, one group was preserved in 4% formalin. Zum Problem einer dauerhaften Verankerung von Huftendoprothesen werden mit Hilfe einer Prazisionsprufmaschine Belastungsversuche mit cyclischer Wechseldruckbelastung an Oberschenkelknochen mit implantierter Endoprothese durchgefuhrt. Die Auswirkungen von hauptsachlich 3 in medialer Richtung auf die Prothesenabstutzung einwirkenden Kraftkomponenten, wie sie in theoretischen Uberlegungen und Modellvorstellungen entwickelt wurden, konnten so experimentell hinsichtlich ihrer Bedeutung fur die Prothesenlockerungen und -bruche bestatigt werden.

Tutkimukseni tarkoituksena oli tutkia liikunnanohjaajaopiskelijoiden (AMK) seikkailuko-kemuksia kahdella melontaretkellä. Tutkimuksen kohderyhmän muodosti päijäthämäläisen ammattikorkeakoulun liikuntamatkailun ja luontoliikunnan opintoihin suuntautuneet lii-kunnanohjaajaopiskelijat (N=12). Abstract Background Osteoid osteoma is a benign bone-forming tumour, which very unfrequently has multifocal or multicentric presentation. We report the first known case of a multicentric, multifocal and recurrent osteoid osteoma treated using radiofrequency ablation. Case presentation A 39-year-old man with two-year history of left hip pain was admitted at our Institution. The pain was more intense during the night and partially relieved by salicylates. 8 pages; International audience; The impact of the ovo proteins ovalbumin and lysozyme-present in the first stage of egg shell formation-on the homogeneous formation of the liquid amorphous calcium carbonate (LACC) precursor, was studied by a combination of complementing methods: in situ WAXS, SANS, XANES, TEM, and immunogold labeling. Lysozyme (pI = 9.3) destabilizes the LACC emulsion whereas the glycoprotein ovalbumin (pI = 4.7) extends the lifespan of the emulsified state remarkably. This study explores the mechanism that contributes to travel intention in the field of virtual tourism. The overall research method is based on the "Stimulus-Organism-Response" theory. In the research model, the effects of content quality, system quality, and interaction quality in virtual tourism on tourism experience and travel intention are explored, as well as the role of virtual attachment and travel intention. A total of 390 respondents were invited to participate in a virtual tourism experience, and provide feedback through a questionnaire. Physically-based radiative transfer models (RTMs) help understand the interactions of radiation with vegetation and atmosphere. However, advanced RTMs can be computationally burdensome, which makes them impractical in many real applications, especially when many state conditions and model couplings need to be studied. To overcome this problem, it is proposed to substitute RTMs through surrogate meta-models also named emulators.
