The implementation of the step-scan technique on our spectrometer enabled us to follow the electric field induced reorientation dynamics of different molecular segments of the ferroelectric liquid crystalline polymer [Si(Me)(R)O/Si(Me)(R')O/Si(Me) 2 O] n (R= (CH 2 ) 11 OPhCOOPhOCO * CHCl * CH(Me)(Et); R'= (CH 2 ) 11 OPhN=NPhO * CH(Me)(Hex)) on a sub-millisecond time scale. It was detected that not only the mesogen but also the spacer and at least part of the backbone take part in the reorientation process

Pētījuma mērķis bija izpētīt, vai dzemdību veids – ķeizargrieziens vai dzemdības pa dabīgiem ceļiem, ietekmē mātes pēcdzemdību psiho-emocionālo status un mātes-bērna saiknes izveidošanos. Mātes emocionālais stāvoklis tika novērtēts ar tā saucamo Edinburgas Pēcdzemdību Depresijas Skalu (EPDS). Skala tika iekļauta pētījumā izmantotā anketā, kuru aizpildīja pētījuma dalībnieces. Ar EPDS nosaka mātes risku uz pēcdzemdību depresijas attīstību, kur iegūto punktu skaitu interpretē sekojoši: 0-9 punkti nozīmē zemu, 9-13 vidējo un >13 punktiem augstu risku uz pēcdzemdību depresijas attīstību. Background noise suppression for acoustic localization by means of an adaptive energy detection approach

A microphone array can be employed to localize dominant acoustic sources in a given noisy environment. This capability is successfully used in good signal to noise ratio (SNR) conditions but its accuracy decreases considerably in the presence of other background noise sources. In order to counteract this effect, a novel approach that combines the information provided by a Gaussian energy detector (GED) with the approved localization method SRP-PHAT is presented in this paper. To evaluate the presented technique, several acoustic sources (speech and impulsive sounds) were considered in a variety of different scenarios to demonstrate the robustness and the accuracy of the system proposed.

We present a new adaptive genuinely multidimensional method within the framework of the discontinuous Galerkin method. The discontinuous evolution Galerkin (DEG) method couples a discontinuous Galerkin formulation with approximate evolution operators. The latter are constructed using the bicharacteristics of multidimensional hyperbolic systems, such that all of the infinitely many directions of wave propagation are considered explicitly. Bituminous sub-ballast is an alternative solution to the unbound granular sub-ballast used in the railway track due to several benefits that it can provide. Indeed, it contributes to maintain the moisture content in the subgrade unchanged during all year. This decreases the subgrade deterioration process. This study aimed to examine changes and educational inequalities in suicide mortality among working-age men in the Baltic countries and Finland in relation to macroeconomic fluctuations.
