Abstract UPM bio-fibrils are nano-structured cellulose fibers (nano-fibrils) produced by UPM Kymmene-Corporation, a Finnish company. This paper reports a preliminary study about nano-fibrils to determine their possible use for restoration of historical mortars and plasters. The aim of this study is to investigate the behavior of some mixtures added with nano-fibrils in their properties for conservative purposes. These mixtures reproduce the composition of historical mortars and plasters, made of natural hydraulic lime (NHL 3.5) and river sand. La chiesa di Sant’Anna a Piazza Armerina (dal 1745), di pertinenza delle monache Agostiniane, presenta un singolare prospetto curvilineo realizzato con una cortina di mattoni a vista. L’accentuata conformazione ondulata delle superfici murarie non trova precedenti nei cantieri siciliani, mentre l’uso del laterizio anziché della pietra rafforza ulteriormente l’unicità di questa struttura. This paper proposes an original and efficient approach to the moving load problem on Euler–Bernoulli beams, with Kelvin–Voigt viscoelastic translational supports and rotational joints, and in addition, equipped with Kelvin–Voigt viscoelastic tuned mass dampers (TMDs).
