Study of students' motivation to perform learning tasks using the educational virtual environment Silva Numerica
2022
This document presents the modalities of realization and the results of two experiments of the use of the EVE Silva Numerica with students of 1st technological STAV. It shows the impact of different scenarios of use of this EVE with regard to a scenario using a video resource on the regulation of student motivation during a teaching/learning session concerning concepts relating to forest development (environment and competition). It is based on the model developed by the self-determination theory - SDT (Deci and Ryan, 1971, 1975, 1985, 1991) and reworked by Vallerand et al. (1989) in the context of the development of the educational motivation scale (EMS), a tool on which we based our data …
2018
As part of an approach focusing on the phases of anthropisation of the Vosges mountains, which has already begun on the Alsatian slope and the Haut-Vosges, this project, which combines archaeo-geography and geoarchaeology, aims to measure, over the long time, the dynamics of a medium-altitude forest area, located on the Lorraine slope, a priori impacted by Man. The choice of the Fossard Massif as the object of study, which extends over a hundred km² to the north of Remiremont (Vosges), is the result of its close topographical and historical link with this town, born of an abbey originally founded, in the 7th century, in a late-antique castrum, situated at an altitude of 670 m at the souther…

2009
A large part of the natural formations that occupied the surface of Sicily have disappeared because of heavy transformations beginning from the ancient time. These transformations have provoked the disappearance of entire communities plants and animals but the entity of these modifications can be only partially appreciated or assumed on the base of fragmentary data. Scope of this study is to evaluate changes in plant and animal communities in the course of the centuries. Until the end of the nineteenth century on the whole an equilibrium was established in the Island. The agricultural activity had surely changed the proportions of the habitats contributing to the spread of open spaces commu…
A Simple Fusion Method for Image Time Series Based on the Estimation of Image Temporal Validity
2015
High-spatial-resolution satellites usually have the constraint of a low temporal frequency, which leads to long periods without information in cloudy areas. Furthermore, low-spatial-resolution satellites have higher revisit cycles. Combining information from high- and low- spatial-resolution satellites is thought a key factor for studies that require dense time series of high-resolution images, e.g., crop monitoring. There are several fusion methods in the bibliography, but they are time-consuming and complicated to implement. Moreover, the local evaluation of the fused images is rarely analyzed. In this paper, we present a simple and fast fusion method based on a weighted average of two in…
Human settlement dynamics and alluvial dynamics of the Rhine River during the Holocene: Geoarchaeology of the site of Oedenburg (Haut-Rhin, France).
2007
The relationship between alluvial dynamics and control parameters such as climate are well known and understood at plurimillennial and pluriannual time-scales. But it is not really the case at multicentennial and multidecennal time-scales compatible with human society settlement time-scales. In a present and near future context, when human settlement may be affected by strong climatic variation, alluvial dynamics understanding is however a major centre of attention to the development of efficient models. To approach this scale-related question, a segment of the Upper Rhine River presenting both anastomosed and braided was investigated. This area also gives us the opportunity to study settle…
2021
Habitat fragmentation is one of the main threats to global biodiversity and despite an abundant literature on the impact of fragmentation on species abundance and diversity, the consequences of this global change in terms of ecological and evolutionary processes remain poorly understood. Beyond their direct contribution to biodiversity, as species-rich category of organisms, parasites could be involved in biodiversity change as key actors of ecological and evolutionary processes. The present work aims to understand the effect of forest fragmentation on host-parasite interactions. It is based on a large sampling carried out in the Lesser Antilles and in French Guiana, and allowing the obtent…
