More than 500 million photos are uploaded and shared every day, along with more than 200 hours of videos every minute. The Importance of Ability Grouping in French 'Collèges' and Its Impact upon Pupils'academic Achievement

International audience; This paper aims at assessing the prevalence and learning consequences of ability grouping in French lower secondary schools (collèges). The paper shows that ability grouping is in fact relatively widespread in France and has a strong local connotation. In terms of pupil learning, the paper stresses that students tend to perform all the more better the better the class they attend. However an heterogeneous context proves to be more favourable (for low achievers, an homogeneous class is the worst case). The results also stress the existence of a potential conflict of interest between the policy-maker and the actors of the system.

Gibbs and harmonic measures for foliations with negatively curved leaves

In this thesis we develop a notion of Gibbs measure for the geodesic flow tangent to a foliated bundle over a compact and negatively curved basis. We also develop a notion of F-harmonic measure and prove that there exists a natural bijective correspondence between the two. For projective foliated bundles with sphere-fibers without transverse invariant measure, we show the uniqueness of these measures for any Hölder potential on the basis. In that case we also prove that F-harmonic measures are realized as weighted limits of large balls tangent to the leaves and that their conditional measures on the fibers are limits of weighted averages on the orbits of the holonomy group.

The aim of this thesis was to analyze the context of residential communities for young offenders (Part I) and to analyze the influence of social representations in adolescents and educators (Part II). The first part offers two levels of study on adolescents and on the organizational structure of the community. Adolescents show many problematic levels in the identified variables (Experiences of neglect and abuse during childhood, Attachment Styles, Self-Esteem, Interpersonal Relations, Behavioural problems).
