Incretins are metabolic hormones released after a meal that increase insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells. The two main incretins are the intestinal peptides glucagon-like peptide-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide. Both induce a decrease in glycemia, slow down the absorption of nutrients, and are inactivated by the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4. Recently, incretin-based therapies have become a useful tool to treat diabetic patients, and different studies have focused on the identification of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists, including those of natural origin. This chapter assesses how the dual strategy that aimed to eliminate "grey area" measures has worked out in practice, also in the light of the protectionist pressures unleashed by the current economic crisis. After providing a brief overview of the historic proliferation of these measures, it discusses whether the attempt to render ordinary safeguard measures a more attractive alternative to voluntary restraint agreements (VRAs) has worked in practice. El artículo plantea la interpretación de las esculturas de Picasso en la época del estilo rosa a través de documentos y fuentes que hasta ahora no se habían relacionado. Esto en dos sentidos, el que corresponde a los novedosos y sorprendentes desarrollos formales y el relativo a los contenidos. En cuanto a las formas, Picasso aceptó la influencia del arte griego clásico como una referencia primitiva sobre la que operó con libertad en dos niveles, la creatividad técnica y el proceso intelectivo de síntesis que lo condujo al cubismo. Respecto de los contenidos, destaca la identificación de los personajes y las acciones o estados en los que los representó. (A)

We consider extensions of the two-variable guarded fragment, GF2, where distinguished binary predicates that occur only in guards are required to be interpreted in a special way (as transitive relations, equivalence relations, pre-orders or partial orders). We prove that the only fragment that retains the finite (exponential) model property is GF2 with equivalence guards without equality. For remaining fragments we show that the size of a minimal finite model is at most doubly exponential.
