An Experimental and Computational Study on the Effect of Al(OiPr)3 on Atom-Transfer Radical Polymerization and on the Catalyst-Dormant Chain Halogen …

2005

International audience; Compound Al(OiPr)3 is shown to catalyze the halide-exchange process leading from [Mo(Cp)Cl2(iPrN=CH-CH=NiPr)] and CH3CH(X)COOEt (X=Br, I) to the mixed-halide complexes [Mo(Cp)ClX(iPrN=CH-CH=NiPr)]. On the other hand, no significant acceleration is observed for the related exchange between [MoX3(PMe3)3] (X=Cl, I) and PhCH(Br)CH3, by analogy to a previous report dealing with the RuII complex [RuCl2(PPh3)3]. A DFT computation study, carried out on the model complexes [Mo(Cp)Cl2(PH3)2], [MoCl3(PH3)3], and [RuCl2(PH3)3], and on the model initiators CH3CH(Cl)COOCH3, CH3Cl, and CH3Br, reveals that the 16-electron RuII complex is able to coordinate the organic halide RX in a…

The nature of radiohaloes in biotite: Experimental studies and modeling

2001

Several micro-techniques (confocal laser-Raman microprobe, optical absorption micro-spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy, electron microprobe analysis) were employed in the detailed characterization of radiohaloes in biotites from two Variscan rocks from Germany. The studied biotites are intermediate members of the phlogopite-annite series with Mg/Fe 2+ ratios in the range 1.6–1.0. Radiohaloes in biotite resulted from the impact of 4 He cores (α-particles) emitted from actinide-bearing inclusions. Monte Carlo simulations yielded α ( 238 U, 235 U, and 232 Th series) penetration ranges in biotite between 12.5 and 37.3 μm, which are in reasonable agreement with the ob…

2020

Since the beginning of the 20th century, electroencephalography (EEG) has been used in a wide variety of applications, both for medical needs and for the study of various cerebral processes. With the rapid development of the technique, more and more precise and advanced tools have emerged for research purposes. However, the main constraints of these devices have often been the high price and, for some devices the low transportability and the long set-up time. Nevertheless, a broad range of wireless EEG devices have emerged on the market without these constraints, but with a lower signal quality. The development of EEG recording on multiple participants simultaneously, and new technological …

Differential study of substituted and unsubstituted cobalt phthalocyanines for gas sensor applications

2011

Abstract The conductivity of CoPc (cobalt phthalocyanine) and Co[(SO3Na)2,3Pc] was measured under a flow of two different gases (NH3 and O3), during exposure/recovery cycles. It appears that the relative responses are linearly related to the concentration, in the 20–200 ppb range for O3 and in the 20–200 ppm range for NH3. Observed during time, the sensing parameters allow a qualitative understanding of the kinetics. The comparative study of those products under both different gases gave interesting results for sensor applications. Whereas CoPc is sensitive to both gases, its sulfonated counterpart is only sensitive to NH3.

Does the Relation between Rapid Automatized Naming and Reading Depend on Age or on Reading Level? A Behavioral and ERP Study

2018

Reading predictors evolve through age: phonological awareness is the best predictor of reading abilities at the beginning of reading acquisition while Rapid Automatized Naming (RAN) becomes the best reading predictor in more experienced readers (around 9–10 years old). Those developmental changes in the relationship between RAN and reading have so far been explained in term of participants' age. However, it should be noted that in the previous experiments age always co-vary with participants reading level. It is thus not clear whether RAN-reading relationship is developmental in nature or related to the reading system itself. This study investigates whether the behavioral changes in the rel…

Grafting, self-organization and reactivity of double-decker rare-earth phthalocyanine

2019

Unveiling the interplay of semiconducting organic molecules with their environment, such as inorganic materials or atmospheric gas, is the first step to designing hybrid devices with tailored optical, electronic or magnetic properties. The present article focuses on a double-decker lutetium phthalocyanine known as an intrinsic semiconducting molecule, holding a Lu ion in its center, sandwiched between two phthalocyanine rings. Carrying out experimental investigations by means of electron spectroscopies, X-ray diffraction and scanning probe microscopies together with advanced ab initio computations, allows us to unveil how this molecule interacts with weakly or highly reactive surfaces. Our…

Palladium‐Catalyzed Electrophilic C–H‐Bond Fluorination: Mechanistic Overview and Supporting Evidence

2018

International audience; Palladium-catalyzed electrophilic fluorination is a particularly attractive and challenging synthetic issue. Because of the rapid evolution of this topic, a critical point on the mechanistic and experimental advances is provided herein. In the present review, we focused on current mechanistic understanding in electrophilic fluorination (and related halogenations) catalyzed by palladium, mainly with N-directing group. Our discussion is based on the well-characterized or calculated pertinent metal species and intermediates used for analyzing the plausible catalytic cycles. A particular effort has been devoted to gathering supporting data for the putative species involv…
