Suomalaiset kirkkoherrat Ruotsin valtion rakentajina 1550-luvulta 1610-luvulle
2019
This dissertation and the four separate articles contained therein examine Finnish pastors as builders of the Swedish state from the 1550s to the 1610s. The subject is studied from three perspectives. First, the relationship between the crown and the church (and the pastors) is explored. Second, the study investigates the relationship between the pastors and local communities. The third aspect connects the first two as it sheds light on the pastors’ role as intermediators between local communities and the crown. These perspectives provide the essential frameworks in which state build-ing took place: the centers of the realm, the local communities, and interaction be-tween the two. The sourc…
Synthesis of molecular materials and heterojunctions, on the interest of ambipolar materials in conductometric gas sensors
2017
The molecular semiconductors have enabled the production of electronic devices such as field effect transistors, diodes and other heterojunctions. The ambipolar materials, capable of carrying both positive charges and negative, result in devices with special properties. The purpose of this thesis is to synthesize new ambipolar materials develop original electronic devices, especially for applications in the field of gas sensors. We are interested in molecules capable to lead to thin films with low temperature techniques known as solution processing, particularly metallo-phthalocyanines.

The role of student counselling in school leadership : case study in Finnish and Russian schools
2016
The aim of my master's thesis research is to understand student counselling phenomenon and its role in Russian and Finnish school leadership. This research study shows differences of organising student counselling in schools itself and its role in a school leadership. Lifelong learning as a part of student counselling provides deep understanding of a counselling process and its importance of student's development. Qualitative research method is chosen as a research method and semistructured interview as a data collection method. There were a need of conducting six interviews in one Finnish school and five interviews in one Russian school. Thematic coding and network analysis were used to an…
Investigating Teacher Leadership in ECE Centres in Finland
2016
This study was aimed at investigating the enactment of teacher leadership in early childhood education (ECE) centres in Finland. Theoretically, the study was informed by the emerging scholarship of early childhood distributed pedagogical leadership and school based research on teacher leadership as well as classical theorizing of ECE leadership. Staff from three ECE centres participated as a purposive sample of informants in this study. The study involved participative observations of ECE staff comprising teachers and child care nurses as a research method. The analysis of findings suggested that the enactment of teacher leadership was strong in all three centres. The study identified three…
Investigating teacher leadership in Cameroon secondary education : a case of two public schools
2018
Teacher leadership is crucial in improving schools and enhancing student learning. In Cameroon, the hierarchical nature of leadership and the internal school structures encourage the partition of roles and responsibilities and a clear separation of power and authority. Teachers in Cameroon work within a more imposed system, where the national curriculum is design and impose on them. As a result, teachers do not perform activities geared towards leadership. To improve on teacher leadership practices in Cameroon and learn from exemplar systems (e.g., Finland), it is important to examine how teacher leadership is practiced and how it can be improved. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is t…
Responding to opportunities provided by General Purpose Technologies : Industry 4.0 in Finland
2017
Companies are currently facing a technological change that has the potential of disrupt- ing entire industries. Recognizing opportunities provided by Industry 4.0 requires com- panies to apply vision and foresight and to adapt their strategies in order to face the changing environment. Acting upon these technological opportunities is managerially demanding, but crucial for maintaining companies’ future competitiveness. This thesis builds on literature on strategic management and General Purpose Technologies (GPTs) and takes a company-level perspective in answering the question of how such techno- logical opportunities are perceived and responded to by decision-makers. In order to explore th…
Phase-dependent microwave response of a graphene Josephson junction
2021
Gate-tunable Josephson junctions embedded in a microwave environment provide a promising platform to in situ engineer and optimize novel superconducting quantum circuits. The key quantity for the circuit design is the phase-dependent complex admittance of the junction, which can be probed by sensing a radio frequency SQUID with a tank circuit. Here, we investigate a graphene-based Josephson junction as a prototype gate-tunable element enclosed in a SQUID loop that is inductively coupled to a superconducting resonator operating at 3 GHz. With a concise circuit model that describes the dispersive and dissipative response of the coupled system, we extract the phase-dependent junction admittanc…
Tell Shiyukh Tahtani. New light on the Bronze Age sequence
2014
This report briefly describes the latest results of the Italian rescue excavations at Shiyukh Tahtani on the Upper Syrian Euphrates. Fieldwork continued on the eastern slope of the mound, aiming to further investigate the Bronze Age levels. A main operation, halfway down the slope, focused upon the earliest MB I layers, where a group of burials was unearthed, mostly consisting of adult interments in oval pits and child pot burials. A most striking finding was the ‘Spinstress tomb’. At the foot of the slope, the exploration of a mud-brick compound, dating back to the early third millennium BC, continued. Here further remarkable evidence of massive domestic architecture in a fine Mesopotamian…
Plain and luxury wares of the third millennium BC in the Carchemish region: two case-studies from Tell Shiyukh Tahtani
2007
In the last decades the large number of salvage excavations undertaken in north Syria and southeastern Anatolia has generated much interest regarding the role that the culture of the Big Bend of the Euphrates River played during the 3rd millennium BC. the aim of the present paper is to examine some particular pottery assemblages of the second half of the 3rd millennium which can be relevant for a discussion about a putative Carchemish region in the Early Bronze Age.
