Canopy Architecture Appraisal by Fractal Dimension of 'Flordastar' Peach Trees Grafted onto Different Rootstocks

The objective of this research was to evaluate the modification of canopy architecture of ''Flordastar'' peach (Prunus persica L. Batsch) grafted onto rootstocks with different vigour, by the use of fractal dimension (D). The hypothesis was that different vigour rootstocks are able to modify the complexity of the branching pattern and that this effect can be assessed by a geometric parameter such as the fractal dimension (D) of the 2D projection of tree branching structure. The observations were carried out in a four-year-old experimental orchard of cv. ''Flordastar'' peach trees grafted onto Ishtara Barrier GF677 and MrS 2/5 rootstocks. On digital pictures of leafless dormant peach trees the tree skeleton was manually depicted by an image analysis software to measure total length and angles of insertion of branches. Bitmaps of the skeleton were then subjected to a specific software (FDCALC) able to calculate D by the "box counting" method. To account for the error introduced by analyzing a three dimensional structure with its 2D projection measurements were done on two images per tree taken from two different viewing angles. Results are shown in relation to tree vigour of the scion/stock combination. Fractal dimension was related to the vigour ranking of the graft combinations tested. Johtajien työholismin pysyvyys ja yhteys työhyvinvointiin

Tässä tutkimuksessa tutkittiin työholismin pysyvyyttä ja työholismin yhteyttä työhyvinvointiin (työuupumus, sairauspoissaolot). Tutkimus perustui johtajien seurantatutkimukseen, jossa aineistoa kerättiin yhteensä kuuden vuoden ajan vuosina 2009 (n= 898), 2011 (n = 465), 2013 (n = 406) ja 2015 (n = 237). Tutkittavista suurin osa oli miehiä (70%) ja tutkittavat olivat tutkimuksen lähtötilanteessa iältään 25–68 vuotiaita (ka = 46). Työholismi osoittautui tutkimuksessa sekä suhteellisesti (toistomittauskorrelaatiot) ettäabsoluuttisesti (keskiarvon muutos yli ajan) voimakkaasti pysyväksi ilmiöksi. Development of trust in the CEO-chair relationship

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the trust development in the dyadic relationship of CEO and chair of the board. Design/methodology/approach A narrative approach is adopted to examine the meanings that CEOs and chairpersons give to trust in their relationship, and to explore trust as an evolving phenomenon that can increase or decline over the course of the relationship. Applying the Identity Status Paradigm to Managers’ Moral Identity

We investigated the applicability of the identity status paradigm in identifying different stages of moral identity maturity among managers, focusing on how they solve moral conflicts in the context of work. Researchers conducted two theory-driven studies. Study 1 was based on focus group discussions among 16 managers, while Study 2 was based on open-ended questionnaire items from 180 managers.
