Du Zodiaque et des hommes. Temps, espace, éternité dans les édifices de culte entre le IV e et le XIII e siècle
2017
This dissertation deals with the iconography of the Zodiac between Antiquity and Middle Age, in particular in churches between the XIth and the XIIIth century. The heart of the dissertation is the analysis of a corpus of 260 items. These items concern the figuration of the signs of the Zodiac and the Labors of the months, whether or not combinated, within ecclesial ornamentation between the XIth and the XIIIth century. This period corresponds to the “renaissance” and to the growth of the figuration of the Zodiac in this context. The study is divided into three parts. The first section deals with historiography and with the presentation of the corpus. Then, the origins, re-appropriations and…
Chirurgie cardiaque sous circulation extra-corporelle et ses biomarqueurs : rôle du Growth / Différentiation Factor 15 (GDF 15) : études cliniques
2016
Ischemic cardiac diseases are the most frequent and deleterious pathologies leading to important cardiovascular-related mortality worldwide. One of the alternative therapies consists to treat these patients using cardiac surgery. Cardiopulmonary bypass was developed to greatly improve this surgical procedure. However, some adverse effects can occur during cardiac surgery associated with cardiopulmonary bypass due to the inflammatory response. This phenomenon is the result of various mechanisms including oxidative stress and inflammatory cytokines which lead to multi-organ failure and then to myocardial and renal injuries occurring during the peri- and post-operative periods. The first part o…
Cardiac rehabilitation and 5-year mortality after acute coronary syndromes: The 2005 French FAST-MI study.
2016
IF 2.271; International audience; Background. - Clinical studies have shown a beneficial effect of cardiac rehabilitation (CR) on mortality.Objective. - To study the effect of CR prescription at discharge on 5-year mortality in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).Methods. - Participants, from the 2005 French FAST-MI hospital registry, were 2894 survivors at discharge, divided according to AMI type: ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI; n=1523) and non-STEMI (NSTEMI; n=1371). The effect of CR prescription on mortality was analysed using a Cox proportional hazards model.Results. - At discharge, 22.1% of patients had a CR prescription. Patients referred to CR were youn…

Distribution of basal-expressed c-fos-like immunoreactive cells of the periaqueductal grey matter of the rat.
1996
The distribution of c-fos proto-oncogene expression has been studied in the periaqueductal grey matter (PAG) of non-intentional-stimulated rats by immunohistochemistry. A mean number of 53 +/- 9 Fos-like immunoreactive cells per hemiPAG, distributed into three groups, dorsolateral, lateral and ventrolateral, was found. The dorsolateral and the lateral groups appeared along the entire rostrocaudal PAG, whereas the ventrolateral group appeared only in the caudal half. These results reveal new data on the number and extent of the longitudinal columns within the hypothetical organization of the PAG. They also indicate a continuous activation of a significant population of neurones in the PAG, i…
Biomimetic Synthesis of the Apoptosis-Inducing Thiazinoquinone Thiaplidiaquinone A
2012
A concise total synthesis of the apoptosis-inducing, marine metabolite thiaplidiaquinone A is described. The key ring forming steps are both based on biosynthetic considerations and involve the construction of the central benzo[c]chromene quinone unit by an extremely facile oxa-6π-electrocyclic ring closure reaction of an ortho-quinone intermediate, derived by tautomerization of a bis-benzoquinone, readily accessed from two simple phenolic precursors. This is followed by the installation of the 1,4-thiazine-dioxide ring by reaction of the benzo[c]chromene quinone with hypotaurine.

Nucleus incertus—An emerging modulatory role in arousal, stress and memory
2011
A major challenge in systems neuroscience is to determine the underlying neural circuitry and associated neurotransmitters and receptors involved in psychiatric disorders, such as anxiety and depression. A focus of many of these studies has been specific brainstem nuclei that modulate levels of arousal via their ascending monoaminergic projections (e.g. the serotonergic dorsal raphe, noradrenergic locus ceruleus and cholinergic laterodorsal tegmental nucleus). After years of relative neglect, the subject of recent studies in this context has been the GABAergic nucleus incertus,1 which is located in the midline periventricular central gray in the ‘prepontine’ hindbrain, with broad projection…
WILLIAM FIELDING OGBURN AND THE INSTITUTIONALISTS. A CASE OF THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONVERGENCE?
2014
This paper investigates the relationship between William Ogburn and the Institutionalists. This is done by assessing Ogburn's contribution in the light of the methodological debates that animated academia during the 1920s and the early 1930s - the years that marked the peak of the Institutionalists influence in American economics - and by comparing his work with that of some of the more 'sociologically oriented' figures of the movement. The present paper is organized as follows. The first two sections deal with Ogburn's epistemic commitments with respect to the main methodological debates of the period. The second section reviews Ogburn's 1922 Social Change and his theory of social evolutio…
Comparaison de la mesure des déformations de fantômes de l’aorte à partir d’image obtenues par IRM et stéréovision
2015
International audience; The study of the wall strain distribution could be helpful to improve the decision criterion for surgery of aortic aneurysm. Recently, numerical simulations can complete the data obtained from imaging measurement in order to develop reliable models. However, the used medical imaging tools are not experimentally validated, in metrological point of view. The aim of this study focused on accuracy and reliability of measurement obtained from kinetic MR sequences. The measures of deformations from MRI were compare to those obtained from stereovision system. Cylindrical phantom of silicone material similar to arterial behavior simulated a symmetric aneurysm was designed. A…
