Measuring pre-service teachers' attitudes towards inclusive education: Psychometric properties of the TAIS scale
2015
The Teachers’ Attitudes towards Inclusive Education (TAIS) scale was designed to measure pre-service teachers’ attitudes towards inclusion, as defined in the Salamanca Statement of UNESCO. The 10-item scale was developed using a sample of 185 final-year pre-service subject teachers. It was validated in four subsequent studies with various samples of teachers and pre-service teachers. The unidimensionality of the scale was established in all samples except the first-year students, and its validity was confirmed in psychometric analyses. The scale is suggested for use in intervention studies aiming to develop positive attitudes towards inclusion among teachers and pre-service teachers. peerRe…
Aktywność celowa a dobrostan psychiczny
2020
The central problem dealt with in this monograph is the question connected with the possibilities of raising people’s psychological well-being. In recent years there has been a lot of research conducted which proved that taking up an intentional activity brings positive effects for the psychological well-being. Simultaneously, a good number of researchers adhere to the thesis advancing a steady potential level of happiness and the lack of possibility of its lasting change. The model of dependence between an intentional activity and well-being is founded on the conception of happiness deriving from the frontiers of eudaimonic and hedonic schools, whereas the theory consolidating the base of …
A Self determination theory based exercise intervention in a group of adult exercisers : a contextual evaluation
2010
ABSTRACT Karoline Kaminski. 2010. A Self-Determination Theory Based Exercise Intervention in a Group of Adult Exercisers; a Contextual Evaluation. University of Jyväskylä. Department of Sport Sciences, Master’s thesis in Sport and Exercise Psychology, 71 pages. According to the Self-determination theory, when the social context is autonomy supportive, people are motivated to internalize the regulation of important activities, and whereas when the context is controlling, self-determined motivation is undermined. Exercise is one of those important activities which when internalized would result in persistent engagement leading people to positive psychological and physiological outcomes (impro…
Compassion practice quality: exploring new frontiers of self-criticism treatment
2021
A “Principle-Based” Approach to Intervention by Invitation in Civil Wars
2019
This contribution challenges the idea of the existence of a one-size-fits-all rule that always prohibits or permits outside forcible intervention upon the request of a government engaged in a civil war. Civil wars are complex situations. It seems quite unrealistic to make abstractions of the “topography” of the conflict between the legal principles concretely at stake in each case. Indeed, if self-determination is the main rationale behind the thesis of strict-abstentionism, an important question to ask is whether self-determination always represents an obstacle to external intervention in civil wars to support the established government. Furthermore, the principle of negative equality is s…
