ONG internacionales y solidaridad global. Un análisis referido a la sociedad española (International NGOs and Global Solidarity. A Focus on Spanish S…
2007
Several analysts have pointed out the emergence of a global consciousness that is closely related to the process of globalization of social life. It has been dered that this global consciousness, which is supported on an expansion of the geographical space of responsibility from which citizens feel they are being begged for aid, is encouraged by the rev lution of information and communication technologies (ICT), the contents broadcast by the mass media and the action of international NGOs. From the context of these and starting from the data c ntained in a CIS survey (E-2419), this paper seeks to contrast empirically the hypothesis of the modifying action of the «cultural reference framewor…
Preventing technostress through positive technology
2018
Over the past decade, the workplace has experienced significant changes as a result of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the subsequent digital transformation (Mcafee, 2006; Matt et al., 2015). Such technological, cultural, and organizational changes have redefined business models and competition. As evidenced by the shift from the Enterprise 1.0 to the Enterprise 2.0 business models, ICTs offer companies increased productivity and efficiency (Bilbao-Osorio et al., 2013). At the same time, introduction of ICTs can pose a threat to both a company and its employees through misuse, abuse, and overuse, resulting in technostress (Gaudioso et al., 2017). This emerging risk see…
Self-organised structures in the field of ICT : challenges for employees’ workplace learning
2021
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to identify the challenges of low hierarchy and self-organised structures for employees’ learning and competency development at work. In the past decade, interest in employees’ and organisations’ self-directedness has increased. Self-organised structures are perceived as better able to answer to the quickly changing requirements of clients and business environments. Within these structures, employees are expected to take on more responsibility and maintain more control over their workplace learning, which means they must be self-directed and autonomous. An important question for this approach is how can workplace learning and employee competence developme…
Understanding stressor-strain relationships during the COVID-19 pandemic : The role of social support, adjustment to remote work, and work-life confl…
2021
This study investigates how the transition to remote work during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic is experienced by employees. We investigate to what extent perceived work stressors relate to psychological strain through perceptions of social support, work-life conflict, and adjustment to remote work. The findings expound the mechanisms underlying psychological strain in the context of sudden organizational change. Specifically, this study shows that both challenge stressors and hindrance stressors have negative impact on adjustment to remote work, whereas hindrance stressors are more strongly negatively related to social support. The study further demonstrates that there is hardly any…
Modeling Heterogeneity in Country-Industry-Year Panel Data: Two Illustrative Econometric Analyses
2017
The macroeconomic empirical literature based on three-dimensional country- industry-year panel data, such as the widely used OECD STAN and EUKLEMS databases, has become extremely abundant, providing more observations for studies previously investigated on two-dimensional country-year panels. However, a large part of this literature does not take advantage of the development of panel data methods to deal with heterogeneity and dynamic and non-stationarity issues. We explain in this chapter how one can put them into practice and circumvent the lack of variability left in the data once one controls for simple and two-way interacted fixed effects in these industry-country-year panels. We illust…
Mediation in Spain: Novelties Derived from the Boost of the European Legislator
2015
This paper seeks to analyse the Act 5/2012, of 6 July of mediation in civil and commercial matters, which has resulted in the definite incorporation to the Spanish legal system of Directive 2008/52/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2008. This law intends to enhance the access to mediation as a way of dispute resolution between private parties, which, while it had been already in practice in some Autonomous Communities in certain matters, lacked of a specific normative body to regulate it. The law is certainly limited in regulating certain aspects of mediation, whereas in some other aspects it still raises some concerns. All of these questions are to be examined in t…
Percepción de una comunidad educativa sobre el desarrollo profesional docente en la educación 2.0
2019
This article reflects on teachers’ professional development in an increasingly technological and informational society. We underline the need for digital literacy in the context of education 2.0 and highlight the challenges that teachers face in transforming new information and communication technologies (NICTs) into learning and knowledge technologies (LKTs) to enhance their professional development. This research has been conducted in a grouped rural school, constituted as a learning community (CA). It consists of two centers whose main difference rests on their use of NICTs: either advanced or preliminary. We have applied the communicative-critical methodology, starting with a case study…
2018

Expressing Professional Identity through Blogging - A Case Study of Blogging in the Study of the Subject of Norwegian in Pre-School Teacher Education
2015
Abstract This article shows how blogging was used in a course in Norwegian in pre-school teacher education, and investigates how professional identity was expressed in the blogs. We investigate the students’ use of the affordances of the blog medium, and connect their expressions to the five competencies of pre-school teachers expressed in the Norwegian framework plan for this education (subject, didactic, social, developmental and ethical competence). Connections between professional identity, subject content and uses of ICT are thus drawn up.
Enterprise Architecture management challenges in the Norwegian health sector
2017
Abstract Enterprise Architecture (EA) is instrumental to align ICT and business strategy, and many organizations carry out substantial efforts to implement EA. It is therefore seen as imperative to drive the digital strategy, identifying innovative new business models and technologies, and realizing more business value of technology investments. However, recent work suggest that it is a challenging task to implement enterprise architecture in an organization. This study explores the implementation of enterprise architecture (EA) in the Norwegian health sector. We found a number of challenges that impeded the process toward a common EA: unclear enterprise architecture roles, ineffective comm…
