Kerronnallinen ja kokemuksellinen aika Joki -elokuvassa Jarmo Lampelan elokuvassa Joki (Suomi 2001) kerrotaan kuusi samanaikaista, toisiaan sivuavaa tarinaa, joissa joukko pikkukaupungin ihmisia joutuu valintojen eteen tai kohtaamaan elaman mullistavia asioita. Eri-ikaisten henkilohahmojensa kautta Joki piirtaa esiin koko elamankaaren. Artikkelissa Jokea tarkastellaan ajan nakokulmasta kiinnittamalla huomiota ajan eri tasoihin ja ulottuvuuksiin. Rediscovery of the enigmatic solifuges (Arachnida: Solifugae) at Lampedusa Island (Italy)

Solifuges were recorded in Italy for the first time in 1956, on the island of Lampedusa (Strait of Sicily), and classified as Biton ehrenbergi Karsch, 1880 and Biton velox Simon, 1885. More than 60 years later, we carried out the first targeted investigation of these little-known animals. A survey conducted during both spring and autumn 2017 confirmed the presence of solifuges on Lampedusa Island. We identified all specimens as B. velox and not B. ehrenbergi. We concluded that B. ehrenbergi is absent from the island, on the basis of both newly collected data and a re-evaluation of the past records. The alpha3/beta4 subtype of neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) was stably expressed in human embryonic kidney (HEK) 293 cells that co-expressed a voltage-gated Ca2+ channel. alpha3/beta4-nAChR-expressing clones were identified using the fura-2 Ca2+ imaging technique, and were further characterised by single-cell and whole-cell patch-clamp studies. Acetylcholine (ACh) induced fast activating currents which showed desensitisation and inward rectification. The conductance of the ACh-activated channel was 29 pS. Preeclampsia: a defect in decidualization is associated with deficiency of Annexin A2.

Background Decidualization defects in the endometrium have been demonstrated at the time of delivery in women with severe preeclampsia and to linger for years, which suggests a maternal contribution to the pathogenesis of this condition. Global transcriptional profiling reveals alterations in gene expression, which includes down-regulation of Annexin A2 in severe preeclampsia patients with decidualization resistance. Light source inner surface changes depending on treatment

Our work is connected with the preparation of different type of electrodeless discharge lamps. In this work we investigate the influence of the SiO2 glass wall treatment procedures on the inner surface of the electrodeless lamps. Three different treatment procedures were applied: vacuum cleaning, vacuum-thermal cleaning and training in the high frequency discharge. The surface modification has been investigated by means of atomic force microscopy. Substantial changes of the SiO2 glass surface have been observed. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. TRPV1 channels as putative targets in the cannabinoid-mediated synaptic activity of hippocampal neurons
Endocannabinoids (eCBs) play a critical part in pathophysiological conditions rooted on neuronal excitability such as epilepsy. eCBs seem to be involved in neuroprotection, putatively acting on the cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1r), but also on Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid type 1 channels (TRPV1). Indeed, CB1r and TRPV1 are involved in the transduction of stimuli at synaptic level, though exact molecular mechanisms are far from being unveiled.
