Iron oxide/oleic acid magnetic nanoparticles possessing biologically active choline derivatives

2018

Abstract In recent years, synthetic magnetic nanoparticles have made a major contribution to biomedicine. Interest in iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles conditioned by the fact that they are nontoxic, and possess the unique opportunity to deliver medicines to certain organs by external magnetic field. We have developed a synthetic procedure, which is based on binding of the first biologically active substance with the magnetic core, and subsequent immobilization of another biologically active substance (ligand) on the modified surface of nanoparticles thus creating plasma membrane-like structures. Using the proposed methodology, we have obtained new nontoxic magnetic nanoparticles, functiona…

Electronic nature of the emitting triplet in SF 5 -substituted cationic Ir(III) complexes

2018

Abstract A theoretical density functional theory study has been performed on a family of cationic iridium(III) complexes of the form [Ir(C^N)2(dtBubpy)]+ (dtBubpy = 4,4′-di-tert-butyl-2,2′-bipyridine), that incorporate 2-phenylpyridine (1, 2) and 1-phenylpyrazole (3, 4) cyclometallating C^N ligands functionalized with SF5 groups. The goal is to investigate the effect that the inclusion of SF5 groups in meta (1, 3) and para position (2, 4) with respect to the Ir–C bond has on the electronic nature of the emitting triplet state and the emission wavelength. The attachment of the electron-withdrawing groups induces the stabilization of the molecular orbitals localized on the C^N ligands and, in…

Some observations on the fluorometric determination of metallic elements in micellar media

1989

Abstract Experimental evidence is given allowing us to interpret why the detection limits obtained in micellar media are higher than those expected according to fluorescence enhancements for the niobium-lumogallion-tartrate system in the presence of different nonionic surfactants. The residual fluorescence of the surfactant solution and the competitive interaction with micelles between complexes and free ligands were studied. Near the critical micelle concentration of surfactants, remarkable changes in the emission spectra were observed in the case of both complex and free ligand solutions, which indicate the existence of interactions between the chemical system and surfactant monomers and …

Tandem β-Boration/Arylation of α,β-Unsaturated Carbonyl Compounds by Using a Single Palladium Complex To Catalyse Both Steps

2010

Diphenyl(3-methyl-2-indolyl)phosphine (C(9)H(8)NPPh(2), 1) gives stable dimeric palladium(II) complexes that contain the phosphine in P,N-bridging coordination mode. On treating 1 with [Pd(O(2)CCH(3))(2)], the new complexes [Pd(mu-C(9)H(7)NPPh(2))(NCCH(3))](2) (2) or [Pd(mu-C(9)H(7)NPPh(2))(mu-O(2)CCH(3))](2) (3) were isolated, depending on the solvent used, acetonitrile or toluene, respectively. Further reaction of 3 with the ammonium salt of 1 led to the substitution of one carboxylate ligand to afford [Pd(mu-C(9)H(7)NPPh(2))(3)(mu-O(2)CCH(3))] (4), in which the bimetallic unit is bonded by three C(9)H(7)NPPh(2)(-) moieties and one carboxylate group. Using this methodology, [Pd(2)(mu-C(6)…

Understanding Digestive Ripening of Ligand-Stabilized, Charged Metal Nanoparticles

2017

Most syntheses of thiolate-protected metal nanoparticles (NPs) include a thermochemical step in which the as-prepared, polydisperse NPs are transformed to a narrower size distribution in a poorly understood process known as digestive ripening (DR). Previous theoretical approaches considered either surface and electrostatic contributions or surface and ligand-binding contributions. We show that the three contributions are needed to obtain theoretical predictions in agreement with experimental observations. Although statistical thermodynamics does not clarify mechanistic details, it certainly provides valuable insights on the DR process. Remarkably, a relatively simple theory with no fitting …

Syntheses and crystal structures of three novel Cu(II) coordination polymers of different dimensionality constructed from Cu(II) carboxylates (carbox…

2004

Abstract We herein report three new coordination polymers generated from Cu(II) carboxylates (mal, 2ac, fum) and conformationally flexible bifunctional IX as building blocks. All the three complexes adopt unique structures in the solid state. The complex [Cu2(mal)2(IX)2(H2O)6]n crystallizes as orthorhombic co-linear rods with space group P2(1) P2(1) P2(1). Each rod is further formed of two tightly intertwined strings. The second polymer [Cu2(ac)4(IX)2]n crystallizes with space group P1 which consists of two sets of intersecting 2D sheets composed of parallel rods which interpenetrate to form a fully interlocked 3D structure. In both these complexes IX coordinates in the anti mode. The third…

Imidazoporphyrins as supramolecular tectons: synthesis and self-assembly of zinc 2-(4-pyridyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]porphyrinate

2019

International audience; 5,10,15,20-Tetramesityl-2-(4-pyridyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]porphyrin (PyPor) bearing a pyridine donor site connected to the tetrapyrrolic macrocycle by a rigid imidazole linker was prepared in high yield by the condensation of the corresponding 2,3-dioxochlorin and 4-formylpyridine in the presence of ammonium acetate. After the insertion of a metal ion capable of metal–ligand axial coordination, namely Zn(II), this compound afforded self-complementary porphyrin PyPorZn which was suitable for self-assembly. In the crystals, this complex exists as a zigzag coordination polymer formed through the axial coordination of the pyridine nitrogen atom to the zinc ion of the neighb…

Superatomic S2 Silver Clusters Stabilized by a Thiolate–Phosphine Monolayer: Insight into Electronic and Optical Properties of Ag14(SC6H3F2)12(PPh3)8…

2014

The electronic structure of two recently crystallographically solved, thiolate–phosphine protected silver clusters Ag14 and Ag16 are analyzed via density functional theory (DFT) and their optical excitations are analyzed from time-dependent DFT perturbation theory. Both clusters can be characterized as having the S2 free-electron configuration in the metal core, which is the first time such a configuration is confirmed for structurally known ligand-protected noble metal clusters. However, their different core shapes and ligand layer induce significantly different optical spectra. Performance of gradient-corrected DFT functionals is discussed and it is shown that the asymptotically correct L…

2018

[EN] We report an unprecedented series of two-dimensional (2D) spin-crossover (SCO) heterobimetallic coordination polymers generically formulated as {Fe-II[(He(SCN)(3))(2)](L)(x))}center dot Solv, where x = 2 for L = tvp (trans-(4,4'-vinylenedipyridine)) (1tvp), bpmh ((1E,2E)-1,2-bis(pyridin-4-ylmethylene)hydrazine) (1bpmh center dot nCH(3)OH; n = 0, 1), by eh ( (1E,2E)-1,2-bis (1-(pyridin-4-yl) ethyliden e) hydrazine) (Ibpeh center dot nH(2)O; n = 0, 1) and x = 2.33 for L = 0 0 bpbz (1,4-bis(pyridin-4-yl)benzene) (1bpbz center dot nH(2)O; n = 0, 2/ 3). The results confirm that self-assembly of Fell, [Hg-II(SCN)(4)](2-), and ditopic rodlike bridging ligands L containing 4-pyridyl moieties f…
