Background The presence of an intracranial aneurysm is contraindicated to recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (r-tPA) treatment for acute ischemic stroke. However, it is difficult to exclude asymptomatic intracranial aneurysms by using conventional, noncontrast head computed tomography (CT), which is the only neuroimaging suggested before r-tPA. Recent case reports and series have shown that administering r-tPA to patients with a pre-existing aneurysm does not increase the bleeding risk. Aim The aim of this study was to identify adaptations in muscle activity distribution to spinal tissue creep in presence of muscle fatigue. Methods Twenty-three healthy participants performed a fatigue task before and after 30 minutes of passive spinal tissue deformation in flexion. Right and left erector spinae activity was recorded using large-arrays surface electromyography (EMG). To characterize muscle activity distribution, dispersion was used. A lap joint simulant laboratory test method of aluminium alloys

A lap joint simulant cavity (LJSC) with a gap thickness of 200 μm has been developed to test corrosion of assembled coated aluminium alloys. The LJSC was instrumented with electrodes allowing simultaneous pH and potential measurements in 0.5 M NaCl solution. Assuming the outer part of the LJSC is electrochemically inactive (painted sheet) it was confirmed that in free corroding conditions the pH inside the LJSC tends more towards alkalinisation. On the opposite, if the outer part of the LJSC is electrochemically active (unpainted sheet) the pH inside the LJSC tends towards an acidic value.

Relaxation of wet paper by simulations and laboratory-scale experiments

Numerical studies of fiber networks and experiments on wet paper show that tensile force relaxes linearly as a function of logarithmic time. Relaxation rate is faster for wet than dry paper. Simulated permanent deformation after relaxation is clearly higher than that measured in wet paper.
